Sometimes great design isn’t about adding more…
It’s about correcting what your eye has been subconsciously noticing all along.
In this living room, the homeowner struggled with the windows flanking the fireplace wall. Although they were technically symmetrical in size, they were positioned differently within each section of the wall — causing the eye to constantly drift away from the true focal point: the fireplace.🔥
The solution wasn’t construction.
It was visual balance.
By installing oversized artwork on both sides, we:
✔️ redirected the eye upward
✔️ softened the distraction of the window placement
✔️ created stronger symmetry
✔️ made the ceilings feel taller
✔️ gave the fireplace wall the presence it deserved
We also discovered during installation that natural light was filtering directly through the canvas artwork, which became distracting once the pieces were mounted. To solve that issue, we blacked out the windows behind the artwork so the focus stayed on the design itself rather than light shining through the canvases.
One of the biggest misconceptions about interior design is that it’s only about decoration…
But often, it’s actually about solving visual problems in a way that changes how a space feels the moment you walk in.
And yes… there was definitely ladder climbing involved. 😅
Here are some behind-the-scenes moments from installation day. ✨
