We're ready for Fall...but Summer is holding on tight!

Happy September! It's a wonderful time of the year!

First, today is the 9th anniversary for Chip and I...we bought the store from the original owner, Michelle, and hoped our crazy idea would pan out. This has been such a fun and crazy ride and we are both so glad to share the love of yarn with you! This Saturday, September 5th, swing by the store and share your stories, your pictures, your ideas with us. We'll have Sis' Sweet cookies for everyone, too. If you happen to see yarn, tools, and/or kits that you can't live without, you'll earn double points - our way of thanking you!

Historic downtown Leavenworth is celebrating Sunflowers and Cider on September 11th and 12th. There will be fun and specials everywhere you look! We will have a drawing for a basket with yarn and sunflower coasters. Come on in and sign up!

Our version of a Superbowl is here this month!! Kansas City's Yarn Crawl begins on September 17th and continues through September 20th, the only Sunday of the year that I'm open. It is such a fantastic time to see what the greater Kansas City area has to offer. We will have Th'Red Head Designs and Potion Yarns in the shop, plus some new items for you to check out. Whether you hope to hit all five shops in one day or pace yourself throughout the weekend, you won't want to miss this incredible event. We'll have a kick off party the evening of September 17th...and Sunday afternoon tends to turn into a show and share and craft time, all at once!

Time to end August with a bang!!

We are closing August with two fun activities!

The first is the annual Leavenworth, KS charm hunt! This will be our 8th year participating and it's always so much fun. Grab a map at the Old Hollywood Theater at the corner of Delaware and 5th Street as early as Thursday and discover 15 amazing spots within Leavenworth's Historic Downtown. Each one will have a free charm for you - whether you jump on your hunt Thursday or wait until Saturday afternoon. Many of the stops will also have bracelets for sale and past charms, as well.

Our second event is the third meeting of the 5th Saturday club. This Saturday between 9-5, grab your club tote and come on in! We'll take 20% off anything that can fit in the bag. For those who want to jump in on this, come on in and we'll get you started as well.

Boy, is it hot out there...

August is well upon us, and the heat and humidity is reminding us that we are still firmly in Summer mode...that pumpkin spice is still weeks away!

With the onset of school, so many things seem to be happening this month:

First City Creatives has their annual Duck Hunt happening on August 15, always a fun time!

Fort Leavenworth hosts their semiannual PAIR day on August 22.

HIstoric Downtown Leavenworth hosts its annual Charm Hunt event August 27-29th.

The 5th Saturday Club will be in session on August 29th. All members are reminded to contact me prior to that day, if you need to schedule alternate arrangements.
For all those intrigued by this Club, come swing by the shop, and I'll explain!

Boy, is it getting hot out there!

Hard to believe I am longing for those rainy days some weeks back...the summer heat is starting to kick in, and will be here for a minute...or two!

What do we have going on in the shop??

Our clearance sale continues...everything on sale is at least 50% off at this point.

We are halfway through the on-line preorders for the upcoming yarn crawl. I have used a skein of Christine's yarn for a sample and fell in love with the richness of color and scrumptious feel. Be sure to order yours - preorders stop at the end of the month and these lovely skeins will not be available in any of the yarn stores in September.

We received some fun new point protectors for all the knitters out there - come on in and check them out!

I will be closing tomorrow - July 17th - at 2pm. The shop will reopen as normal on Saturday, from 9am - 5pm.

Happy 250th birthday, America!

Happy July! Mother Nature decided to start this month with the heat...which makes me pull out my projects made with cotton and bamboo! Perfect for wearing inside with the A/C but not overheat when outside.

Notes for this month...

We will be closed this Saturday, to celebrate the 4th of July with family.

Our clearance sale continues! It was a sad realization that Jojoland doesn't make Splatter Dash, one of my favorite yarns, anymore. We still have a variety of colors on the clearance shelf to choose from. We also have Plymouth's Encore Mega Colorspun and Viento 100, and Cascade's 200 Superwash Grande on the shelf as well. If you missed out on a shop shirt, check out the basket on the table, along with other treasures!

Time to start looking ahead to this year's KC Yarn Crawl! If you haven't already saved the dates, be sure to put September 17-20 down as must see yarny weekend!

We kick things off this month with this year's pre-order kits and patterns. Take a look over at kcyarncrawl.com and check out the beautiful kits for this year! Kansas City's own Treasure Goddess has provided two sets of three skeins that will make two knit or crochet patterns. Her worsted weight yarn is deliciously squishy! Each kit has a knit or crochet option and hand mitts and a cowl project patterns are included.
We also have the 2026 KC Yarn Project Pouch available for pre-order. It is the perfect companion for your current work-in-progress, notions, hooks, needles, or other fiber essentials.

Kits are only available for pre-order through the month of July.
Project pouch is also available for pre-order this month. Some stores may elect to carry some of the pouches but there is no guarantee how many will be available.

Welcome to June...otherwise known as late April, given all the recent showers!

We are already 5 days into June and it feels like Mother Nature just remembered that she was supposed to send us rain in April...and then forgot. It's rained almost every day this month!

A total of thirty one projects were cleaned up, as part of May's Spring Cleaning. We are proud to announce that Tanya Berg is the winner of our gift card drawing! Here are a few more of the projects that were finished...

We are now almost a week into June' Top-a-Long. What pattern did you choose? I decided to dive deep into my stash and will be making the Filia shirt by Asita Krebs.

Save the Date - Knitting in Public Day is June 13th. We'll set up at the pavilion at Haymarket Square in Leavenworth that morning. Bring your project (knit or crochet) and come enjoy the morning air, and maybe take a quick trip over to the Farmer's Market while you are here!

I have family coming in a couple weeks, so if there are changes to the store hours, I'll be sure to post it on social media, as well as send out a quick note.

Finally, our Semiannual Clearance Sale will begin June 23rd! All discounted items will be a minimum of 25% off!

5th Saturday Club is upon us!!

Get a good night's sleep, as tomorrow is the second meeting of the 5th Saturday Club! All members receive 20% whatever you can fit into your club totebag. Not a member? Swing by and we can get you started!

Just a reminder that we are winding our way to the end of the month...and the end of Spring Cleaning. Be sure to send a picture to us, via text/email/social media, of your finished project, to be entered into a free drawing - one entry for each finished project!! Enjoy some of these projects below that were finished this month...

June 1st is this coming Monday...are you ready for the start of our Top-a-Long? I have my yarn selected and have my pattern options narrowed down to 2. If you want to discuss possible patterns and yarns, swing on by and we can help you out!
