Are you getting ready for autumn too? It’s one of the most beautiful seasons in the Midwest.

I enjoyed designing a beautiful entryway for a lovely couple this week. A classic console, warm lamplight, a mix of textures and dramatic artwork brought this space to life.

It’s often the forgotten spaces that can make a home feel more welcoming when the right furnishings and decor are added.

I’d love to hear how you’re welcoming Autumn in your home.

This space is a masterpiece I've had the pleasure of seeing dozens of times on Instagram, and it continues to inspire me with its seamless blend of design elements that radiate warmth and sophistication. I wish I knew the creative mind behind this stunning room, as it would be a joy to acknowledge their talent. Each glance at this photo invites me to pause and appreciate the harmony that exists between the contrasting pieces, their patina telling a story of timeless elegance. What's more, the beauty lies in the way every element works in concert, creating a sense of effortless flow. I'd love to step into this space, sink into one of those inviting chairs, and let the serenity wash over me.

The smallest touches can reveal the most about our personal stories. Growing up, I was captivated by the way my mother's love for birds, florals, and seashells filled her home with warmth and character, and I realize now that those elements have had a lasting impact on my own design sensibilities. It's fascinating to see how often these subtle influences are passed down through generations, shaping the aesthetic of families in profound ways.
By acknowledging and embracing these patterns, we can unlock the full potential of our own styles and create spaces that truly reflect who we are. I'm inspired by visionaries like Barbara Barry, Bunny Williams, Suzanne Kasler, and David Jimenez, who have paved the way for us to explore and express ourselves. Who are the creatives that inspire you to curate a home that feels authentically yours?

Gather the treasures that mean the most to you, and watch as they come together in perfect harmony. Bringing the serenity of the ocean into your home is not about geography, but about capturing its essence. Let your living space reflect the elements that spark joy.

This family room renovation showcases a dramatic transformation. The objective of this design project was to seamlessly integrate the couple's preferred complementary color scheme and ethnic style while enhancing the space's functionality.

Initially, the room's layout was compromised due to the disjointed flow from the back door to the adjacent kitchen, resulting in a narrow walkway that bisected the conversation area. By reconfiguring the traffic path to flow behind the sofa, the seating arrangement has become significantly more comfortable.

An updated firebox surround and a warm white paint refreshed the space further. Consequently, the space now harmoniously reflects the couple's vibrant personalities and their enthusiasm for hosting gatherings.

Choosing things you love, rather than following the trends, will always make your home unique and special.
