I started creating as a way to escape childhood trauma . the name pulp street, is a play on pulp fiction. it's an imaginary place where I can create for others and create for myself, making items that I didn't have as a child because I didn't really have a childhood. before I was 11 years old, there was nothing but abuse from a monster that married into my family. Because I never had proper therap
y to help deal with all of this, I channelled all of those emotions into art. My imaginary Street is a figurative one. Now, I am in therapy and working through those things that happened so long ago, and that keeps me creating. my story sadly is not unique, by sharing it helps me continue to create for those who have happy safe lives, and a portion of all sales go to charities, some are for personal fundraisers to families to help get the help they need. Ive been messing with machines and materials at 8, and was instantly addicted to creating Barbie outfits and uneven heart-shaped pillows. Before the days of the trendy goth punk stores it was taking something from thrift stores and cutting it up, This trend spread fast into the ''underground'' and surfaced into local malls and upscale websites. Ive been called a trend pimp, but never a poseur. I try to stay ahead of the curve, keep original personalities and styles in mind. With so many awesome artisans out there, its hard to keep your voice yours....
So I say, make and share what describes moods, the day of the week, what catches your eye at a crosswalk or while sitting at a traffic light. There's a you in unique, keep it that way ;)
