So many lessons learned.

When I opened my first store, I ordered some manufactured items from Los Angeles to help fill out the racks. I thought that by ordering from a factory in the US, I could keep my hands clean from any of the forced labor happening in China.
I have since learned that there are factories in California that are not any better.
Lesson learned? Make as much of my own s**t as possible, visit manufacturers, talk to low level employees (not just management), and work with other small businesses whenever possible.

Memories...

I had a section of my original store dedicated to restored vintage clothing. I GREATLY overestimated how much central Illinois cared for vintage. I spent most of my time explaining that the difference between used and vintage clothes is the same concept as a used vs. classic car. Sadly, my skills and style were wasted... sigh...

Take some time today to write something. It might be a grocery list, or a love letter, or even a note for your kids' lunches. Just take the time to see your own handwriting on the paper and appreciate your own voice coming through the ink.
