A pop of yellow "sunshine" to make up for the lack of it these past few gloomy days☁️-> ☀️.

I'm offering a salutation to colorful glassware this week [and my endless obsession of wanting to bring IT ALL home]! I have quite a collection of antique goodies passed from generations and gifted to me through the years. These lemony pieces are perfect to sip cocktails from or spoon a fancy dessert....I'll have one of each + keep my pinky up.

When I talk to people about design (whether at my day job😷, wedding design, or with friends + family) one thing seems to be in common--> the majority are drawn to neutral tones, a warm inviting space, and a style of overall comfort. ⁠
⁠
Our spaces should be a place of solitude AND a reflection of who we are. Although I'm a huge fan of playing with color, I also appreciate the need for serenity and simple. Adding textures, keeping the basis of warm creams | oatmeal | white, and a little green (can totally be fake if you don't have a green thumb) goes a long way for a classic vibe that never goes out of style.⁠

I'm a "bird nerd" + a flower nerd + a bug nerd.... Basically fascinated by what nature has to offer. We drove into DC to explore the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History & I came across this beauty. [Yes, I would totally display this in my house if I could!]

I found a few other gems--> including the Hope Diamond (scroll to see) as well as a sunny stroll through the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. The littles had fun running around on the pathways; I had fun snapping a few 📸.

Bringing in natural greens and textured elements creates something so warm + pretty... a perfect setting for friends to gather around, share stories, enjoy🍷& a good meal... Just as nature intended.

This neutral palette is perfectly organic and pairs well with the observatory .
Such a classic style never gets old [yes- it WoRkS in a space at home or an intimate wedding]!

A fun teaser for the weekend... My gal pals and I .mingled FINALLY had a kid-free playdate (after 10 years of endless hussle) to capture the personalities + authentic nature of our group.

A little thought about this after seeing the captured picts and a pep-talk from our social guru :

1- my honest belief is that our society is too into our phones, social media outlets, and missing so very much of the small things life has to offer. I don't want my children growing up with memories of their parents always on their phone or posting "perfect" pictures of what their lives are like. Screen time is fine, but in limited numbers.

2- after our meeting with Mariah, I do realize that this is small biz advertising and it's not going away. Business can certainly be real and grow without it, but in the event + design world it's a showcase & identity necessity. I'm okay with that and realize ppl want to see what our talents are.

3- it's okay to post ourselves as who we are... It's how we develop connections and how both wedding and design clients fall in love with our work. There's a balance of ALL things in family, motherhood, business, socialization, and self.

Finally, this is me. Always finding the humor in things, glass half-full kinda gal, a little spicy, art-nerd, and an admirer of functional style.

I grew these golden + mauve petals this year in honor of my flower bestie . She always says the🌻 is her fav and I totally understand why. They truly make me smile every time I dig my hands in the dirt alongside them. I may not have pretty hands, but I can sure grow some splendid things.

Super excited to share the news: this beautiful design from my fall 2020 wedding was published via !! I loved EVERY step of creating this for my clients➡️from the palettes + mood boards, to linens + tablescapes, and complimenting florals... The result was absolutely beautiful and just their style. The info & details can be found on my other IG today .mingled.

This is the 2nd wedding we have had published in the past 2 months & to say it's extremely gratifying is an understatement. It is amazing to see positive moments like this in an industry that has greatly suffered through 2020🧡.

I can't wait to share more details, designs, and how to pull off a pretty tabletop for your own post-COVID parties at home 🍽️! In the meantime, isn't this linen and scenery lovely??!!
