Step into the cozy underneath of our Leesburg Deck Project...

After completing two bathroom renovations several years ago for this client, they called us back asking us to give their outdoor living area a face lift.
•
The area started out as a traditional deck, but now it has a screened in area up top, a seating area underneath and a spiral staircase to connect the two spaces. We will share more photos of the upstairs soon, but for now, swipe through to see the details of the patio seating below.

It was a magical week away across the pond in the UK🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 From London to Scotland, every sight and experience was truly spectacular. The architecture, the gardens...it was inspiration everywhere we turned!

The cherry on top was of course seeing at Wembley Stadium (& the night Travis came on stage). Talk about inspirational...her stamina and work ethic is unmatched! Now it's time for us to get back to the office and implement all this inspiration into some beautiful designs✨

Our goal was to make this room inviting and conversational, not stuffy and cold like a lot of sitting rooms. Those swivel chairs and a cocktail are calling our name🍸

There was one word we had in mind when designing this foyer and that word was SHOWSTOPPER✨ We are thrilled to share the first pictures of the Leesburg home we have been working on in the last year.

Remember that chandelier we installed with over 400 crystals? Well here it is in all its glory 💎 More to come of this wonderful home, but for now enjoy this foyer transformation.

• extra hooks for the items that don't fit in a cubby

Indoor/Outdoor spaces are simply unbeatable! Rain or shine, this family of 7 gets to use their sunroom for entertaining and everyday living. The large sectional is the perfect place to curl up on a rainy day, but hopefully sunshine is coming our way and this client can open their doors to warm weather.

How are we in May?!? April came and went in the blink of an eye. A lot on the docket for the next several months, but we are most excited to share more about project. As we gear up to photograph our Leesburg Home project we are reminiscing on our Arlington photoshoot with . Ready to capture all the rooms we have been working on for the last several months!

Pool season is almost upon us 🏊🏼‍♀️ Let's discuss OUTDOOR furniture. The 3 keys when sourcing outdoor furniture ⬇️

1. Durability - Outdoor furniture needs to last. The Virginia sun is no joke which is why it is important to buy furniture that is UV resistant and is made of material to withstand outdoor elements. Heavy weighted furniture is also key for windy days.

2. Cleanability - It is impossible to keep anything outdoors constantly clean. Before your guests come over you want to be able to quickly clean off your furniture. We all just want to be able to take a hose to our furniture for quick cleaning. Outdoor fabrics with stain resistance and water repellent features are key. Cushions and fabrics that absorb water will get moldy and be a headache to care for.

3. Comfort - Last but not least, your outdoor furniture needs to make you feel relaxed. If you are lounging by the pool you do not want to be sitting on stiff furniture. Your furniture should be tailored to how you spend your time outdoors and should make you want to stay outdoors!

Cheap furniture will have to be replaced each year, quality furniture will last YEARS. Invest in quality outdoor furniture to make your backyard spaces feel like a resort.

Devil is in the details ✨ We pride ourselves on listening to our clients to curate a one of a kind design that fits their needs perfectly. Kitchen design is a process that takes time and attention to detail. Keep reading to see all the details just in this one angle of our recent Ashburn kitchen.

• Pocket Doors - Client had a very sensitive gluten allergy and needed a separate cabinet for her toaster. The pocket doors you see in this shot have an outlet inside for her toaster to reside in.
• Custom Door Panels - Client did not want to have glass, but wanted a decorative element. To break up the traditional door style, we created a custom mullion design over a panel to flank the hood.
• Island Storage - All sides of this island serve a purpose. Storage, seating and power are wrapped around all sides of this island. Islands should be more than just countertop space!
•Range Hood - The Crown Jewel of our kitchens👑 Our custom range hoods are not only functional for the chef in the house, but also make a statement with their size and sophistication. No two hoods are alike as we have control of every detail on the hood.

What to do when wallpaper isn't the client's vibe...BRICK🧱 This brick accent wall brought this basement powder room from boring to bold! We love getting creative with wallcoverings and we love even more when the client is willing to be different.

This is us telling you not every room in your home has to have the same color scheme and aesthetic to create cohesion. What if we told you every picture in this post was from the same house? Some rooms lean into the neutrals and some rooms are bold with color. GTD brings a transitional element into each of our designs, tailored to the client and their home. That attention to detail is what creates a beautiful lasting cohesion.

Has working from home ever looked so fun? In this Ashburn home office the creative juices were flowing to make the client's vision come to life. When the client said they wanted unique we took that idea and ran with it!

Would you believe us if we said not a single book was purchased to fill the space? The client already owned this extensive collection and finally has a place to display them all. The variety ranges from medical textbooks to a book titled "Holy Sh*t I'm Having Twins" 😂 The books brought so much personality to the space!
•
This office is a great representation of how you can mix sophisticated design and personal touches. Although beautiful accessories are important in a design, you can't beat personal touches that make a space feel like HOME🤍

3 QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN DESIGNING A BATHROOM ⬇️ Everyone considers the aesthetic they want in their bathroom, but sometimes forget to consider function. You can have both!

1. What type of plumbing fixtures do you want? 🚿Think outside the box of the traditional shower head. Would you like a rain shower? Do you need a handheld? How about body jets?

2. What niche size and orientation do you need? 🧴Raise your hand if you buy the Costco sized pump bottles🙋🏼‍♀️ Or do you need a shelf to put a razor on. Some niches look great, but they don't provide proper storage for your shower products.

3. Bench vs Shelf? 🪒Will you use a full sized bench? Or do you just need a small corner shelf to prop your foot up on?

With sunshine 🌞 on the brain we had to share probably our favorite basement transformation EVER...
•
Because why have a regular basement when you can have a TIKI Basement 🌺🍹That was our client's exact thought when it came time to design their beach house basement.
•
Another traditional sitting area wasn't needed, so we turned the basement into an indoor outdoor Tiki Bar for guests to enjoy as they laid by the pool.
•
Custom indoor/outdoor furniture, a spectacular handmade surfboard countertop by a local woodworker, and a beach photoshoot with the client's dog....the features in this space are endless. Oh yes and we sourced authentic bamboo and thatch for the tiki bar! Make sure to swipe to the end to see the before pictures.

Hard to believe we are closing out month 1 of 2024. January passed in the blink of an eye! GTD is gearing up for a busy February with the start of a special project. All my fellow business owners who is grateful for the leap year and having an extra day next month??😂
