Little girl, in progress.

I so remember my kids wearing these reef sandals in the summertime when they were small. Is it too trite to say it seems both like yesterday and long ago?

It's time to party like it's 1776, baby! My banners are back along Mass Ave. for the 250th parade, and two are decorating my house! Looking forward to some nostalgic fife and drum tunes today ๐Ÿ˜€.

I totally forgot to take any process pics, but I finally made a home for my chipmunk friend (notably NOT eating a bird ๐Ÿ˜‚).

We're (hopefully) in the last throes of winter, but while there's still snow on the ground (unfortunately, still a LOT of snow on the ground), one last winter animal friend for the season: a smiling red fox! ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿงก

Just up the road in Concord: Walden Pond and the site of Thoreau's cabin. Here's my version, not 100% glued yet, but close enough!

In the wise and relevant words of Henry David Thoreau:

All men recognize the right of revolution; that is, the right to refuse allegiance to, and to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable.โ€”"Civil Disobedience"

My newest little collage friend! I hadn't made a chipmunk yet because:

A couple of years ago, as I stood at my kitchen window with my coffee, I saw a chipmunk EATING A BIRD!! The little bird feet were sticking out and the chipmunk had a crazed look in its eyes. Up until that point, if I ever actually thought about it at all (I hadn't) I would have assumed chipmunks are vegetarian or something similar. I learned that this is not the case. Somehow, they seemed less cute after that.

Still, they are pretty cute, so as the image of that particular chipmunk has lightly faded from my brain, I decided to try to make a chipmunk as I used to see them: eating peanuts or whatever.

I forgot to take process pics, but there are a couple if you swipe!

We're gearing up for the annual Lexington Tea Burning reenactment outside the Visitors Center (pictured here). When we had a fifer in the house, we went every year for a decade!

One of the things I love about our town is how nobody blinks when they see a colonial-type wandering around the Center (my own kid would routinely make deposits at the bank in a tricorn hat after giving tours on the Battle Green).

In the spirit of that, here are two colonial ladies milling around town during the darkest part of the year, which is more than I'm going to do in these frigid temps! I'll be in the attic wearing fingerless gloves and working (unsuccessfully) on convincing Millie to be a full-time lap-warmer instead.

Anyone recognize these guys from the 70s and 80s?

After a big project, I'm usually left with a big pile of messy paper scraps. If they aren't big enough to refile with their color group stash, I've taken to sweeping them into an old Tupperware in case I need a little snippet of some unique color.

Recently, I did three new designs made out of only the scraps, because the pieces I needed were so teeny tiny.

These funny guys are mini-portraits of a few of my favorite vintage Christmas ornaments, almost all of them thrifted over my adult life. It was hard to choose which to make-- I love them all!
