We couldn’t be more excited to have a recently completed new build featured in ! Thank you to both Bridget Cottrell and Lee Milward for appreciating our fresh, yet timeless, design perspective.

These clients were a dream to collaborate with and so was the builder, Kevin Crouse. We were lucky to be a part of this “dream team”. The two year process was fun AND the end result, exceeded even OUR expectations.

Blending old and new is where the magic happens ✨

When designing the breakfast nook in this new build, our clients had a table that had previously been an investment and help special meaning for them. The finish was dated and not appropriate for the direction this new design was taking so…..We enlisted the help of a local artisan to refinish it into something that would add patina and keep the table relevant. By keeping it at the heart of the space, refinishing it, and layering in new elements, we created a look that feels fresh, functional, and deeply personal. This is thoughtful, SOULFUL design. 💚

Because great design isn’t just about what’s new… it’s about what matters.

A working momma’s home office from our recently completed “Appalachian Chic” project in PA. This new build has a modern aesthetic with white walls and dark windows primed for impactful artwork and wallpaper. When a room has windows on all sides (incredible views) you add interest on the ceiling and with a pagoda-style rattan lantern. Cheeky and full of whimsy.

Plus, we designed a quiet little windowseat/nook for her kids to sit and read while she works. Loads of texture and patterns while not being overstimulating.

This one was fun a fun article to contribute to. It took me back to my 70s childhood and our family’s beloved (LOL) GMC motorhome. Do you remember those? They lumbered around like a spaceship, broke down after the first 3 hours of our trip, and the inside looked like an explosion of avocado green, gold, and burnt orange. Check out the article. 🚐

INTERN HIGHLIGHT:

This is our intern, Sarah Smith. ✨ She is a 3rd year student at the University of Kentucky College of Design and has been with us for three semesters.

We met Sarah back in the fall of 2024 when Jenna was asked to be a guest speaker for a 2nd year class at UK. We noticed right away her interest in residential design and her attentiveness as a student. When she emailed us a few weeks later about an internship, it was a no brainer.

Sarah is always on the top of her game- paying close attention to detail and never has to be told something twice. These are skills we believe will help her go far in life and in her career, wherever that takes her.

We have appreciated all that Sarah has contributed in time and positivity to SI.

For those of you who are new here, let us reintroduce ourselves... We are a mother-daughter duo passionate about luxury residential design! We specialize in new builds and large-scale renovations locally and nation-wide. This past year, we finished new builds in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Kentucky. Our current obsession is a late 1800s Victorian renovation in a Lexington, historic neighborhood. (Green heart emoji)

What better place to spend Snowmageddon than inside this dark, cozy Media Room. Hidden behind a pivoting door is the equestrian-inspired space- perfect for marathon movie sessions. We design for families and function and are super excited the space is being used to create lots of great family memories.
