On a recent commercial project I managed I was asked to define what I do...a definition of a designer? I can tell you what I do everyday...I hunt, gather, design & decorate, fabricate & produce. I gather data from my clients and from that create a design that can solve problems, inspire, and create a working environment that breeds good work. It is crucial to a commercial space to problem solve as
well...Problems with cramped spaces, lack of light, and temperamental layouts filled with too much this or too little that. I love working with my clients and guiding them through the often overwhelming world of commercial design and fit up. To many it is a foreign place of terms they don’t recognize or even have a need to remember later. But this is what I do...every day design for everyone. Each project is unique and each client an individual. For over 20 years I have polished my craft into a thriving business. But, I don’t do this alone...architects, contractors, craftsmen, sculptors, and artists all have a place on our projects. I love to work with a team of professionals creating a cohesive collaboration. Each position incredibly important to the finished product. Color is one of my specialties...you won’t find a blake eames design project that is not touched with color. At times even pushing my clients a bit outside their comfort zone to infuse their everyday work space with dashes of color, turning the space or brand into a happy environment that inspires good work. I am a tour guide and an idea person. I walk the client through the many decisions to be made...from demo to furnishings, organization to work flow, building a brand from the ground up and all levels in between. We also can work with your company’s established brand to infuse the work space with the existing brand or even help you develop or freshen the brand. Because it all matters...every last design detail. Some examples of our commercial design projects include:
