Introducing: The Art of Wood and Acrylic Ink Pen Making Class

What You'll Learn:
Basic wood turning techniques: Learn the basics of wood turning, including how to properly mount the wood or acrylic block on the lathe, how to make cuts, and how to shape the pen body.
Techniques for working with acrylic: Discover the unique challenges and opportunities of working with acrylic, including how to drill, sand, and polish acrylic blocks to achieve a smooth, professional finish.
Assembly and finishing: Learn how to assemble the pen components, including the ink refill and hardware, and how to finish your pen with sanding, polishing, and buffing.

What You'll Take Home:
Your own custom-made ink pens: At the end of the class, you'll take home your own unique ink pens, handcrafted by you! Show off your creations to friends and family, or even sell them as a fun hobby or side business.
A new skill: With the knowledge and skills you'll gain from this class, you'll be able to make custom-made ink pens for years to come. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to continue learning and exploring new techniques and designs.
Class Information:
Duration: The class is a 2 day class, 4-6 hours total. 1st day (2 hours) you will learn how to cut, drill and prepare your wood and acrylic pen blanks. 2nd day you will learn to safely use the lathe and chisels to turn the wood/acrylic and assemble your pens.
Prerequisites: No prior experience is necessary, but a basic understanding of woodworking tools is helpful.
Cost: The class fee is $125, which includes all materials and supplies and you will make at least 4 different type of wood and acrylic pens.
Class size: The class size is limited, so sign up early to reserve your spot!
Age minimum is 16.
Maker Space Membership is not required but class members will get a free 30 day basic membership to take advantage of their new skills.
