Window treatments can really make a difference in almost any room!

For this Lexington, MA family room, the floor to ceiling windows added a strong grid element that make the space feel a bit hard and overly complicated. By adding sheers to the windows flanking the double doors, we softened up the wall to make the perfect backdrop for the fun and curvy furnishings.

These translucent window treatments still let light in from the beautiful backyard, but keep the sun's harsh rays out which helps extend the life of the furniture and finishes.

We created this custom hood and tiled backsplash to compliment this small kitchen in Concord MA, and aimed to keep if feeling open and bright.

Simple touches of warm neutrals help create interest and contrast.

The traditional-style trim around the hood is flanked by clean, open wood shelving that add warmth and a modern element to a historic home without out feeling out of place.

Color drenching a room is a surefire way to create a moody space that feels rich, elevated, and intentional.

Painting a ceiling a dark color doesn't always make the room feel smaller if done well. It does however mean you may need to rethink your lighting by increasing the lumen output (brightness), and adding additional layers of lighting such as floor lamps, table lamps, wall washers, pendants, and down lights.

I highly recommend putting different types of lighting on separate dimmer switches, so you can easily adjust each one to suit different activities and times of day. And ask me about smart switches in the comments - I love adding a bit of tech to upgrade any space where it counts!

This all makes the perfect moody spot flexible enough for different uses, and still cozy and intimate!
