FACETS, FANS, and FANCY FEET -Some of what I was working on in the evening hours over the past couple of weeks (- with some fluting and scallops thrown in for good luck).

I did manage to make around 50 pieces in my "down time" while the garden and outdoor tasks took up most of my time since late May.

Most of yesterday was spent mixing glazes.

Today and tomorrow will be spent getting around 20 pieces glazed and ready for firing.

A little late! But here's the May giveaway winner.

I know how folks like to see me post videos of how things are made, so here's a little behind-the-scenes look at making embossed "ladle cradles"/spoon rests:
I managed to condense a ten-minute+ process into about a 1½ minutes.

The reason I don't do more of these is simply the time factor - almost two hours in making, shooting, and editing this clip!

To make these medium size rests I start with 1½ lbs of clay - throw a disk - let it set for a couple hours to stiffen up - emboss a design - create the rim - set it aside again to stiffen until I can remove it without damage - set it on a ware board for further drying - then flip it to smooth up the bottom and add my mark - put it back on a ware board and place a bag of sand on it to keep the center from warping upwards while it drys. Then they will dry for a good while longer before they can be bisque-fired.

ANOTHER CUSTOM ORDER.
And I'm back on the socials.
(At least for a little while). It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted anything of note - but the rain finally let up, the earth dried out, and chance came to get the crops planted. Good weather always triples the tasks on the homestead.
Here's a yarn bowl that I made as a custom order - and to be honest, I put off telling the customer that it was finished because I wanted to enjoy looking at it a little longer.

Here's what on the shelves this weekend!

This is a late post but I didn't find much time to spare this week for regular posting.

The pie plates turned out to be pretty popular and now I only have one left! It will be a month or so before I have another batch ready.

This week I've been working on more mugs, and misc tests on new clay I'm trying out.

Here's wishing all safe travels this weekend, and don't forget the real reason for Memorial Day.

NEW! Pie plates and ramakins. Take your pie-making up a notch with these oven-proof stoneware plates. Unglazed interior does a great job of baking the crust (tested in our kitchen). And 8 and 10 ounce ramakins for your creme brulees and souffles. (I will admit that I had no idea what a ramakin was before making these!)

OPEN this weekend:
Friday 3 to 7
Saturday 10 to 5
NOTE: I will be away on Saturday but my better half will be here to warmly greet you (and talk baking with y'all).

Win this mug!
That's right, just stop by the studio, no purchase necessary - (but I dare ya to leave without something 😉) and drop your name in the pot. May's raffle winner will be chosen at the end of the month.
This mug was made from a embossed slab of a deep red-brown clay sourced in Alberta. I had a small batch of the clay a year ago and this is from the last of it. It's been sitting lonely on the shelf and has been needing a home.

OPEN:
Friday's 3 to 7
Saturday's 10 to 5
