Meet Ethan. Whatever the day calls for, Ethan's the guy — service, installation, and every odd job in between. He does it all without fuss and gets it done right.

That same steadiness shows up outside of work, where you'll find him in the woods every chance he gets. With two dogs and two goats that love a good walk, he's happiest wandering the forest with the whole crew in tow. He's also known for the kind of long hunts most people call crazy — deep into the frigid woods to track the biggest bucks, then working out how to get them back to the car. He shares it all with his wife Emily and their three kids.

Austin is our utility player — equal parts service and installation, and always the answer to “who can take this one?”

He's a golfer, a killer co****le player, and he'll head to a Bruins, Pats, or Red Sox game any chance he gets. Most of all, he's a great dad to his daughter, with kid number two on the way.

And here's a fun fact: Fireside runs in his family — his mom, Amy, holds our office together.

Nate came aboard in 2019 and quickly became one of the team's gas-side anchors. Around the shop, he's famous for having the cleanest van in the fleet — and it isn't just for show.

The van is a rolling preview of the work itself: organized, precise, and done right. Freshly certified through F.I.R.E. Certification and holds other credentials from CSIA and NFI. Nate covers everything from installs to service calls across the North Country.

Off the clock, he's probably in his garage turning wrenches on an old truck, lending those wrenches to a friend, riding ATVs, fishing, or hanging around the campfire.

John joined us in 2019 as an eager learner — then went out and caught everything he chased: NFI Master Hearth Professional across wood, gas, AND pellet, CSIA certified, F.I.R.E. certified, NH Gas licensed. The full sweep.

He rocks a lot of nicknames — Johnnie Cape Cod, Johnnie Crystal, and most recently Johnnie Homeowner — but to us he'll always be just Johnnie. He shares the new house with his bride Brianna, travels for hockey games whenever he can, and is an avid golfer still hunting that first hole in one.

Meet Jay, the anchor of our field crew. Eight years in, he's the one the toughest jobs go to — and the more complex the install, the calmer he gets. One step at a time, until it's done right.

Away from the job you'll find him in the bleachers at baseball, basketball, and soccer games with Katie and the kids, camping in Maine or the Carolinas, fishing in sun or snow, or working on his favorite never-ending project: the driveway.

Today's install came with a serious time crunch: a hotel room fireplace swap squeezed between a noon checkout and a 4:00 PM arrival window — plus a few unknowns waiting for us once we opened it up.

Jay, Sean, Buck and Dave took it on. Old unit out, new Heat & Glo Fireplaces Slimline fireplace in, fired up and dialed in. We ran about an hour past our target, and we'd do it that way again — the room was open, and nobody on this crew is going to rush a gas appliance installation just to beat a clock.

That's what these guys do. They walk into an unknown, figure it out on the spot, and leave behind work they're willing to put their name on. 👏

If you've ever called Fireside, visited our showroom, or booked a sweep — you already know Amy. She's the cornerstone of our office: greeting customers, scheduling the madness of hearth season, and answering the phones, 11 years and counting. She's the master organizer of all of the Fireside events. Whether it's our annual Christmas Party, Memorial Day Flag setup, or random comedy show outings, Amy's the planner that makes it happen. She even organizes our March Madness pool every spring, and we still love her even though she's a Duke fan.

Off the clock she's likely watching sports with Steve, proud as can be of her two wonderful sons — and answering to her favorite title yet: Grammie, hopefully with her favorite little right by her side.

Starting something new: every Tuesday, we're introducing you to the people behind Fireside. And there's only one place to start.

Bob built a log cabin in New Hampshire back in the '80s. Years later he walked into the old Woodsville Stove Shop looking for a fireplace for it — and walked out with a bit more than that. Today, Bob and Dottie (Mimi & Pa to their five grandsons, and honestly to most of us) live right here in the community they helped keep warm.

The man who came in to buy one fireplace ended up starting a second-generation family business that's still going strong 23 years later.

Next Tuesday: the one who helps keep hearth season from turning into chaos.
