Sometimes it is fashionable to be bad.

Howdy y’all! I’m Shannon Aston, owner of Southern Badass Antiques, and last night was one of those perfect southern nights. This Tony Alamo Warner Bros. rhinestone denim jacket just came up for auction in my hometown in middle of nowhere Arkansas. New old stock straight from the Alma, Arkansas compound after it was raided in 1992. Some of the jackets they had weren’t finished because the compound was raided during production.

In the 1970s, Tony Alamo moved his cult from Hollywood to rural Arkansas where followers hand placed Swarovski rhinestones and airbrushed iconic designs onto acid washed denim, putting jackets on the backs of Dolly Parton, Mr. T, Michael Jackson, and Brooke Shields. This one has been quietly sitting in someone’s storage for over 30 years, and tonight she finally came back up. I did not hesitate to raise my hand 🤠💎

Vintage sometimes comes with unsavory stories.… but the future won’t mimic the past. Let’s all go out and spread some kindness today!
