I started something new today - yep, seems like I'm doing that a lot lately.

When I named this page Mozelle and Blanche, I chose the names of mine and my husband’s grandmothers - two women who knew their way around a kitchen and, more importantly knew that good food had a way of bringing people together.

Recipes don’t always start with food. This one started with lost friend and table full of tomatoes at the farmers market. She made tomato pie every summer for her boys. I never actually tasted it but standing there in front of those tomatoes all I wanted was a slice. So I made one in her honor. An old-fashioned (not that she ever was), Southern tomato pie.

The doors are open.

I’m so happy to finally tell you that the Mozelle and Blanche website is officially live. This has been years in the making. It began with family recipes, took on new purpose after my celiac diagnosis and has become a place where generations of comfort food are adapted to gluten-free so no one has to miss a seat at the table.

It only seemed right to begin with Mimi’s Gluten-free skillet cornbread - a recipe that’s been on our table for generations. You’ll find the recipe, the story behind it and even a few family memories waiting for you.

1+1 = Dippy Cookies!!! Prepare according to box, add raisins, spread it out on cookie sheet, bake at 375*, when cooled break apart & serve with caramel “dippy” sauce
