Part 4: Lids and bottoms for the little treasure boxes. This step wraps up the project nicely!

Part 3: With the maple and walnut boards planed down and cut to the right side for the little treasure boxes, I show (again) how I use my 1/4 inch box joint jig to cut the box joints, as well as the glue-up process and rough sanding to clean up the mess. The result is adorable.

Part 2: Cutting dados in the inside of the box pieces and making dividers so that the inside of the box will be divided into 12 sections.

Welcome to the ?-part series for this project. I start by going over some of the background and features of the gift box, then get right into the most challenging part - dovetails on the table saw!!! 😱

Build video(s) for this coming soon! Any guesses what it is?

The description didn't post originally but this coffee table was made mostly from pallet wood and scraps. It was inspired by one of my favorite episodes of the The New Yankee Workshop, and something I've wanted to try for a long time. I honestly may not have become a woodworker without having seen it!

A quick and cheap, but sturdy and functional project for my mom. Built directly from a DIY guide she happened across, with some simple adjustments that will make it last a long time. Enjoy!

I thought I'd try to get the whole Workshop Desk project build condensed into one 20 minute video. Here's a quick contents list:
-Intro
-Desktop Construction
-Drawer Case and Cabinet Framework
-Basic Assembly (how the cases attach to the top)
-Drawer Boxes
-Drawer Fronts
-Cabinet Door

Enjoy! I hope this is an easier format to watch than multi-part builds. I think I'm going to separate content into "Build Overviews" and more detailed "Tips, Tricks, and Techniques". The latter is good info but I think it tends to bulk up the length and get in the way of the story of the build. Please let me know what you think!

The workshop desk is done! Here's a quick shot of the whole thing built, assembled, painted and top-coated. The other picture is directly from the 3D design - how do you think I did? This project was fun to build, and while not terribly difficult it still taught me a few useful lessons. I'll cover all of that in the upcoming video series!

This desk is going to be a huge help not only as an additional woodworking surface but also as a place to store non-woodworking tools and gadgets. This is so I can have a place to tinker with and fix things; everything I *should* need is right here and I won't have to make a mess in the house. Soldering, tool/knife sharpening, appliance repair, experiments, etc. can all happen here.

It is ready to use as-is, however I will definitely be adding some upgrades to it. How about a tool/phone charging area built into some shelving/cubbies at the back of the top? Or a small machinist's vise for occasional metalwork? Endless content fodder!

I don't think it gets much more satisfying than this when it comes to casework! Smooth gliding, well-fit, and well-spaced drawers. Build videos for this desk coming soon!

Box Joint Jig: A simple, but effective way to make strong 90-degree joints. I demo the 3/8" version that I made before the video, then walk through the steps to make a 1/4" version. Enjoy!

This video covers the final steps of the hutch build. I lost some of the stock footage but I think you can understand how everything went together at the end. This episode will cover banding the tabletop with mitered trim, constructing a drawer box and a drawer front, then mounting the drawer and top onto the cabinet.
