We love to create new pieces out of anything from barn boards to left over scrap lumber! Everything we do at Second Chance Studio is unique and one of a kind. All of the signs are hand painted without stencils and many have a special antiquing technique added. Not only do we love to create unique pieces but we also love using only paint and supplies that are made in America! Soon we will have a store set up at Etsy but for now, enjoy our page and hopefully you will find something you love at Second Chance Studio!

Another custom order completed and a big one! A wonderful customer asked me to create two hand painted signs measuring about 4 feet by 4 feet on barn boards from a farm they recently purchased. They also had one of the original signs from the Lodi Golf Club they wanted to bring back to life, but still show its character.
For the barn board signs, I had to clean each board up and then also make them square as they had some ‘uniqueness’ to each board. I then took the extra boards and cut them down to frame each sign.
With the golf sign, it was aged and well worn. I went in and lightly sanded each wood groove to clean it out but not take away the character. It was time consuming, but worth it ! Finally, I repainted it but in a way to make it still have that aged look.

I love creative orders like this one and saving beautiful barn boards. It was also an honor to give the Lodi Golf Club sign a second chance !

These donations went to a very, very special fundraiser happening today - The 115 Fighter Wing Friends and Family Day Silent Auction. This fundraiser raises money to help and support military families so it is an absolute honor to donate to this wonderful event.

We would like to take this time to thank Peaceful Valley Outdoors for the wonderful opportunity to sell and share our pieces in their beautiful store! We truly appreciate their amazing support of our small family business! Although we are saddened to see this wonderful local shop come to an end, we know they are making the right decision as it always should be - Family First!

Sorry - this post is a bit longer, but for good reason. I had someone reach out to me about a year ago inquiring about creating a custom order. Her brother-in-law’s father recently passed and they wanted to have a special sign made in memory of him. She told me he loved to hang out in the garage with friends, smoke meat, listen to music, and enjoy a few drinks. If you know me, you know I don’t mind doing any of those either. She also sent me a picture of a sign that was purchased for her brother-in-law at a barn sale in Lodi several years ago. Yep, it was a Busch Light sign I had painted to sell at the awesome County Line Barn & Market. She didn’t realize I had painted it, so I knew this was going to be a special piece to create. We collaborated on what she wanted on it and once a final design was set, it was finding the right rustic look. I was able to get some absolutely beautiful barn boards to hand paint on. The bottom piece was attached using rusty nails and wire that I had in my collection to add to the rustic look.
Every custom piece is special, but this one especially. I never met Scooter but I feel like we would have hit it off in the garage.
