It's been a long while since I got to play with any of my tools, but I finally got a minute to help a neighbor replace trim on his house. Then I of course had to replace mine after a woodpecker went to town on a piece above our sliding glass door.

Pretty simple fix when you have the right tools:)

Not exactly a creation, but a project nonetheless.

I removed the swamp cooler and patched up the wall, both exterior and interior. I hired a guy to help me do it which made the process so easy and we got it done in under 4 hours. I then finished the interior drywall repairs on my own by texturing and the exterior priming and painting.

**Yes, the paint doesn't match because we had the house painted 5 years ago and sun fade has changed the color, but it's good enough till the next time we paint.

I got estimates to do this repair and was told $2500-3000. I said no thanks. I paid a guy $250 for his labor help and the materials were $100 or less as I got drywall, joint compound, insulation completely free from our local Buy Nothing Group!

From ugly 4x4 poles stuck in concrete and wood from my neighbors to a wind barrier for the grill. Finally making some progress in the back yard with patio furniture, irrigation drip lines, string lights, etc.

Finally finished my latest project. Yet another creation out of need (in my opinion). My kids were leaving jackets piled on top of the "shoe table" by the back door because they couldn't hang them themselves in the closet. We lost a handful of coat hangers due to fatalities where Kylie was trying to get her jacket or sweater and overall it was driving me crazy not having a way for them to independently hang up jackets on their own.

So I built this bench with a shelf underneath for shoes and fabric bins (for now) that house hats and gloves, etc. And as they get older, we can use it strictly for shoes if necessary. Kylie can stand on the bench now to hang her jacket and help hang Juju's till he can reach on his own. I wanted a coat rack with a little storage space above for wallet, sunglasses, etc. So we each have our designated spots for jackets and little things.

Major improvement in my mind.

Cost $35 (used only wood I already had on hand), bought a box of screws and a quart of clear coat sealer. That's it!

Time: took just under a month working an hour here or there on weekends mostly as the kids never let me get stuff done!

#2022

I need some ideas of things to create... Think small. Think scrollsaw. Think wood is too expensive, let's use whatever scraps we have.

Got any ideas of things you either want created or things you'd like to see. I need a project that's not Hulu:)

The cats have been upgraded to their very own individual feeding locations that none of the other cats can access. Spoiled. But trying to keep the peace and keep them from getting fat!!

Start them young - she wanted to measure the length of the wood herself, so I of course let her :)

Thankful for Stacy as she watched the kids while we took off the old deck in preparation for the new deck we'll put on this coming weekend hopefully. Hard as heck working on such projects with two little kids. One who doesn't like anyone else now...stranger danger and separation anxiety are in full force. Poor guy.

We tried. I goofed up the frame after I'd gotten it perfect. It's permanently not perfect, but it's still "ok" and will leave it as is.

Getting James' handprint was not an easy feat. I had to pull up some YouTube video to distract him, Kylie held one hand out of the way, while I painted his other and pried open his little fingers to put them down and get a print. Kylie was way easier and she was helpful with getting James':)

Made this for Ed for Valentine's Day today. Getting to work in the garage on projects is my version of therapy. It's satisfying and nice to have some outlet for creativity on occasion. I wish I'd get more time, but I love having the time with the kids too. They won't be small forever!

What shall we name this guy? I'm currently making animals for Kylie and James to play with. This happens few and far between as free time isn't something I really get yet. But it's fun when I do have 5 min and something already set up and ready to cut.
