The Charles River Esplanade holds a special place in my heart. During the six years I lived in Boston, it became part of my daily rhythm — a place for long walks and deep conversations, a scenic route home when the sunset made the T feel unnecessary, and the backdrop to moments with people who became part of my core memories.

Over the years, I’ve captured the Esplanade from nearly every angle, but it was Justin who suggested I try something different — to draw it from across the river, looking in from the Cambridge side. That new perspective brought fresh meaning to a place I thought I already knew so well.

6 Things I Wish I Knew Before Becoming an Artist

1. Finding your style takes time—and even once you think you’ve nailed it, it will keep evolving.
2. Perfectionism won’t get you anywhere. Post the work. Launch the product. Make the reel. You’ll learn as you go.
3. Running a small business is tough. Stick to what you’re great at and outsource the rest, or partner up.
4. Invest in the right tools. They’ll pay off in the long run.
5. Find a mentor who’s already succeeded. They’ll help you focus and prioritize.
6. Consistency is hard, but it’s non-negotiable.
