A little sneak peek at the bathroom coming to life. Clint Nicholas Design and I chose this reflective tile from All Natural Stone, Inc. specifically for the way it catches the mirror light and creates a subtle halo effect across the wall, very conveniently, also perfect for a selfie.

The stone slabs feel almost like oversized organic geodes: layered, irregular, and completely unique. And of course, finishing it off with the new Washlet from TOTO USA

Early Isamu Noguchi 3X Lamp

A vintage Noguchi Akari light sculpture, model 3X, in washi paper and black wire. The cube-like shade is formed from layered horizontal pleats of mulberry paper that have aged to a warm, honeyed ivory — noticeably deeper in tone than a new example. Four slender wire legs support the shade from below, with a small wire handle at the top.

Designed by Isamu Noguchi and first produced in 1951 by the Ozeki lantern makers in Gifu, Japan, the Akari series remains in production today. Vintage examples are identifiable by the presence of the iconic red sun and moon mark without Noguchi’s signature and are increasingly sought after over current production pieces. Similarly, the pull switch is another feature only present on earlier examples.

A single vintage piece in solid condition with the original box. The warm patina of the aged paper gives it considerably more presence than a new example of the same form.

Monumental Stan Bitters Thumbprint Pot

A monumental Stan Bitters planter in terracotta, standing over three feet tall and covered in his signature hand-pressed thumbprint texture, row upon row of deep, repeating impressions across the entire exterior.
Signed ‘Bitters’. A major work of California studio ceramics.

Stan Bitters is a foundational figure in American studio and architectural ceramics, known for his expressive, hand-worked surfaces. The thumbprint pattern at this scale represents him at his most ambitious and collectible.

Some vessels simply hold a plant. A rare few become sculpture in their own right.
