FINALLY the project reveal of my dreams with the most fab clients— our West Hollywood pool house is live on !

This garage had one salvageable wall when we started. The brief was a feeling, not a place: somewhere you’d show up in a swimsuit, stay for cocktails, and never quite head back inside. The goal was to give off European boutique hotel vibes both inside and out so they could really maximize their outdoor spaces for the ultimate entertaining destination.

We raised the ceiling, built a custom walnut-and-marble bar that became the whole project’s anchor, designed a vintage furniture inspired vanity and let curves carry through every detail — ceiling, millwork, furniture. And of course included one of a kind vintage lighting that made my heart sing 🥰!

Character isn’t expensive. It’s intentional.

Your home should feel like you — not like everyone else’s Pinterest board.

The good news? You don’t need a renovation to get there. Some of the biggest transformations come from the smallest, most intentional swaps.

Start with your hardware. If it came from Amazon or still has that builder-grade brushed nickel finish you’ve seen in every rental you’ve ever walked into — replace it. Same goes for your door k***s and levers. These are the jewelry of your home and they’re noticed more than you think.

A pop of wallpaper goes a long way. Inside a cabinet, behind open shelves, in a powder room — it’s one of the lowest-lift, highest-impact moves in design and it immediately signals that someone with a point of view lives here.

At least one piece in every room should be vintage. A statement chair. A table lamp with history. A sideboard that looks like it’s been somewhere. You don’t have to furnish your whole home this way — but one piece per room changes everything.

While you’re at it — please, I’m begging you, hire an electrician for one day and spend an afternoon sourcing vintage lights on Etsy. Nothing will do more for your home than getting rid of the overhead fixtures and adding something that feels like it belongs.

On art: a blank wall is infinitely better than generic art sold a thousand times over. Thrift stores, Saatchi, Tappan Collective, Etsy — the right piece is out there and worth waiting for.

And don’t overlook the basics. Tissue box covers. Switch plates. Soap dispensers. Waste baskets. Source them like they matter — because in a room that’s been thought through, they do.

ITS SUMMER! How did we get here this fast? I know the next month is going to be super crazy with school wrap up but I’m excited this home will also be welcoming back its family just in time to make some fun summer memories poolside 💦

The color drenched two texture dining space has come together so beautifully and when the vintage light fixture gets added it will be the ultimate cherry on top 🍒

Where I genuinely feel most at home and alive is certainly not Los Angeles.

It’s somewhere amongst trees so dense you can’t see through them — where you just wander and wander and it’s always green.

Places where the water doesn’t break into waves but rolls gently when a boat passes on a glacier-made lake.

At my roots I will always be an Upstate NY girl. And when summer is within reach, my feet may be here — but my heart is already in the Adirondacks.

Hands down my dream job is to return to my roots. From my hometown in the Hudson Valley to the peaks of the Adirondacks — if you have a project in that neck of the woods and this is your vibe, let’s talk.

More progress over in Hancock park where this simple but lovely fireplace glow up is taking shape. As you can see there will be no lack of storage with the pantries in this home either. A boys bath with retro vibes and a perfect green tile, and finally the dining room getting the attention to detail she deserves 😍

Make an entrance.

In a world of builder-grade everything, the interior door is the detail that quietly does the most — or gets completely overlooked. It’s the first thing you see entering a room. It sets a tone. And one considered choice, repeated throughout a home, creates an architectural thread that makes everything else feel more intentional.

Don’t let it be an afterthought.

A few things on my mind this week after a hiatus due to some sickness running thru the fam 🤢.

First — a potential new project that made me catch my breath a little. A client’s childhood home, full of original detail and genuine charm, ready for a new chapter. Some spaces arrive already knowing who they are. This one did.

Second — a project finally underway for a client who loved her lot, loved her floor plan, and could simply no longer live with the characterless farmhouse new old aesthetic that has consumed LA. We are fixing that. Material depth, warmth, intention right down to the grout choices.

And then — the last few images, which are really about something else entirely. That’s our GC on site, checking niche placement after the walls were opened, coordinating against structurals, waiting on tile sub input before anything gets confirmed. That is what good teamwork looks like.
I have been fortunate enough to work with contractors who know exactly where their expertise belongs — who bring solutions rather than design opinions, who execute with organization and care and take project management seriously. I have also experienced the opposite, and I will say this plainly: your GC choice will make or break your project more than almost any other decision you make.

You can find tile on sale. You can source lighting vintage. But if you go with the lowest bid on your contractor without vetting the process behind it, you will spend every dollar you saved — and then some — on delays, miscommunications, and mistakes that never had to happen. While as designers we can help oversee your project in construction we need it to be a collaborative process where by we both work together for our client. We can’t however back up or be responsible for their workmanship. So hire accordingly!

This girls bath is going to be the cutest! One of the first ideas I presented to our client was a floral mosaic floor. These sort of show the evolution from pattern or process. Which included the surprise bonus that as I was doing the dry lay I tried mixing up the petals to be even more random and whimsical. The final result is even better than I imagined 🌸

Cabinetry is going in on our Spanish project and not sure which I’m more obsessed with the show stopper walnut island or the sage green cabinetry with all the pretty details. And the coffee cabinet gives us the best of both worlds 😍
