INSIDE-LOOKING OUT and viceversa
The chamber, originally grandmother Marcella’s painting atelier, is annexed
to the primary wing. It offers an incredible view facing the pool and is
protected by trees, making it a cool, refreshing spot away from the summer
sun. It felt both central and detached—a truly relaxing space.
I wanted to ensure the new owner would use it as much as its previous
occupant.
Since Alina is a passionate bibliophile, we decided to transform the space
into a library. She was thrilled, as it’s a perfect location for reading. To
furnish the space, I selected two iconic mid-century Herman Miller Eames
lounge chairs, made in walnut with Mantra leather, a material that
complements the walnut used in the bespoke, wall-to-wall bookcase and
filing cabinet. This structure was designed to accommodate an extensive
novel collection and memorabilia. A hand-knotted brown wool rug rests on
the wood planks, creating a cozy environment for reading year-round.
To honor the room’s history, I intentionally kept the easel and Marcella’s
painting in the room, maintaining the atelier’s spirit. This creates a unique
gesture where the past meets the present and the future.

The chamber, originally grandmother Marcella’s painting atelier, is annexed
to the primary wing. It offers an incredible view facing the pool and is

In the primary bedroom, I incorporated several pieces from my furniture line, including the Lucca bed in mauve velvet, which was designed specifically for this space. Additionally, Chinoiserie panels and a Hector Finch reading lamp add a layer of sophistication to the room.
