Hi, I’m Abby!

Prop stylist, interior designer, and creative strategist.

There are a lot of new faces around here, so I wanted to reintroduce myself!

I’ve got my hands in a lot of different creative ventures, so if you’re into behind-the-scenes life on set, interior design and decorating tips, or the honest reality of building a creative business, you’re in the right place.

I’ll be sharing everything from prop styling shoots and client projects to lessons I’ve learned along the way as I build Abby | The Booked Creative.

I have quite literally never seen en example of painted trim that I didn’t like!

Trim only? Yes!
Tone on tone? So chic!
Paint your trim and your room will instantly be cooler 😈

A few things that have genuinely helped me build my creative career:

•Not being afraid of debt. No, you don’t need to buy every shiny thing, but don’t expect to build a business on free trials forever either!! Courses/ branding / websites/ softwares / networking events I’ve paid for have almost always come back around in one way or another.

• Mentors!! They’ve already made a lot of the mistakes you’re about to make. Learn from them instead of trying to reinvent the wheel!

• Saying no more often. Every time I’ve accepted work that wasn’t aligned, I’ve ended up too busy to take on the projects I actually wanted. Saying no creates room for YESES!

• Outsourcing!! This can be an assistant, accountant, bookkeeper, cleaner, grocery delivery... anything that gives you back time to do the work only you can do is usually money well spent 🤑

Money can’t buy taste because taste is a mindfulness exercise.

Taste builds over time through pattern recognition and cataloging what you like and dislike.

Trends come and go, but when you’re constantly developing YOUR taste, you stop feeling like you have to follow every trend. You know when to opt in, when to opt out, and what actually feels like you.

So go on that walk, open a book, visit a museum and build your taste!

Rounding out the craftsman tour with the simple but colorful playroom! The clients wanted to keep their existing sleeper sofas for extra guests while also serving as a playroom for their kids. I think it’s the perfect touch of whimsy :)
