A few weeks ago, Tori in the House had the incredible honor of participating as a nonprofit partner and as a judge on the panel at Hack2Impact 2025—UCLA’s first-ever social good hackathon hosted by ACM At UCLA & LA Blueprint.

Hack2Impact 2025 was truly beyond—and we were blown away by what the students were able to accomplish in just 36 hours! Several wonderful teams of students used tech and AI for good to tackle real challenges brought forth by four nonprofits. We left genuinely inspired—not just by the talent, but by the care and intentionality behind each project.

For Tori in the House our challenge was to help further develop our Trauma-Informed Style Quiz and expand our work around dignity through design—via a tool that identifies sensory and design elements like color, texture, and grounding cues that can support safety, stability, and identity for our formerly unhoused neighbors and clients, and help get them on a path to long-term thriving & help end the cycle of homelessness.

We’re so grateful to all three teams—Stile, Tori’s Style Quiz, and Tori Quiz—who chose to build with us. They each brought a different lens to the same challenge and showed what’s possible when empathy, creativity, and community-based work meet tech/AI for good.

It was a super close race, but Team Stile took home the win for Best Hack in the Tori in the House category! One of our other quiz teams, Tori’s Style Quiz, also received the award for Most Sustainable Design.

You can check out all three team demos for Tori in the House here:

Grateful to each team who built with us. Massive thanks to the incredible Anne Do, Caroline DebBaruah, & every single person behind the scenes who made Hack2Impact what it was. Big thank you to Jen García for connecting us—and to ACM at UCLA and LA Blueprint for making dreams come true.

So excited to keep building, collaborating, and imagining what’s possible when design with dignity is centered and tech is led with empathy.

as we close out women’s history month, we’re honored to introduce you to the women of our community collective—visionaries, curators, nurturers, and storytellers. each one plays a vital role in helping us style for stability through culturally rooted, trauma-informed care. from scents that help ground and stories that affirm, to plants that heal and art that reflects identity and culture, they help make a house feel like a home and give our formerly unhoused clients the tools they need to thrive.✨

sandra has created a grounding oasis in leimert park with the plant chica. we include two plants in every home as part of our trauma-informed design approach—because aside from the endless benefits of plants, they help stabilize. when folks have a plant to nurture and watch grow, they too are being nurtured and growing. sandra also plays a massive role in nurturing and spotlighting the community in ways that go far deeper than plants & we’re so grate we get to collaborate with her.

our foundation is stronger and more vibrant because they’re part of it. ✨Kat is a scent magician and community curator! While we skip candles to prioritize safety in our clients’ homes, her clean, high-vibe diffuser blends from Mayumi Goods fill each space with grounding aromatherapy that supports healing and stability. She’s also the founder of Mayumi Market, spotlighting AAPI creatives and emerging food entrepreneurs. A true multi-hyphenate light!

Birthday Week Hopes and Dreams✨🪩🎉

Will you pledge to donate $25 monthly to help us furnish futures at Tori in the House?

For my birthday, I’m not asking for gifts—I’m asking for 40 amazing people to commit to donating $25 a month to help me reach $1,000 in the next 7 days for Tori in the House.

We style for stability to help end the cycle of homelessness—because a house is just four walls, but a home is where healing begins. Through trauma-informed design and personalizing each space to each client’s needs, we help ensure they not only move in but remain housed.

Every dollar counts to help make a house feel like a home.

Can you pledge to be one of my 40?

Your $25 monthly donation will go directly toward furnishing and designing spaces with care—beds, couches, decor, and the thoughtful touches that create a real sense of home and belonging.

If you’re in, click the link to pledge your monthly donation. Together, we can create healing spaces and furnish futures.

We’re also growing our community. Give us a follow and share this with three friends who believe in creating lasting stability through home.
