Love seeing the Paloma throw hanging as a wall art tapestry here in 's buttery yellow living room in Oslo, Norway.

The Paloma Throw was designed by . When Maggie was designing this piece, she pictured tropical summer days in a fun getaway city, and the result is this sun-drenched scene with people lounging by the water, striped beach umbrellas, swaying palms, and ice cream sundaes on a café table. It definitely brings that those sunny, happy vibes to this space ☀️ Also a great solution for large wall art using our blanket hanger clips.

Slowdown Inspiration - Yolo House by interior design studio set above the owners’ fashion store in Surry Hills, Australia. Especially obsessed with the stainless steel kitchen island which wears handmade ceramic handles paired with the blue-stained timber cabinetry.

Cozy apartment interior inspo in Japan from featuring the Cooper Throw blanket designed by artist .
Loving how the colorful graphic flower design of the Cooper Throw softens the the raw concrete walls and adds a pop of personality to the grey sofa.

We know it’s hard for emerging artists to get noticed - especially when the algorithm’s not on their side. As a way to help us discover new artists, and get more eyes on emerging artists who are creating interesting work, we’ve created this art comp. So if you think your art belongs on a Slowdown Studio blanket, we want to see it :)

Six winning designs will be woven into our signature throw blankets.

About the prize money (because we know people ask)
We used to a % of sales on top of a lower winning prize. Now we've incorporated the average commission into a much higher, guaranteed flat rate of $1,500 so that everything is transparent, fairer and honors every artist equally. Taking into account the fact that some designs may not sell as well as others, we want to ensure that our art competition stays true to the original vision of rewarding creativity. Therefore, we’d rather equally reward both the quirky designs that only sell a few blankets as well as the more commercially viable designs. This competition is about finding distinct, creative voices. That’s what we’re here to celebrate. 🎨

Slowdown Inspiration - Hungarian photographer Szilveszter Makó's surreal portrait art.

Szilveszter is inspired by a wide range of art styles including Italian art and the Renaissance, Dadaism, and Bauhaus filtered through a deliberately melancholy mood. A defining trait of his practice is that almost nothing in his images is bought or CGI-generated. His set design, props, and even some of the garments are handmade, and he favors recycled and natural materials like cardboard, reclaimed wood, household objects, inherited cutlery, scraps.

Szilveszter's work is often described through the lens of Surrealism and grotesque art, using chiaroscuro lighting and contrasting earth tones to evoke old paintings rather than modern photography. His childhood in Hungary's Lillafüred forests and its folklore continue to surface in his handcrafted, faded-antique aesthetic.

Enikő Katalin Eged with her Alma Throw Blanket.

https://slowdownstudio.com/collections/all/products/alma-throw-woven-blanket

Eniko is a Budapest-based artist whose work draws on folklore, nature, and the bonds between humans and animals. The design came from a recurring motif in her practice - a horse and a human portrait side by side - and was inspired by the relationship she was building with her new mare at the time. The result is a richly coloured night scene: a woman and her horse face to face beneath a dotted sky, with golden stars, a crescent moon, and folkloric florals in deep black, burnt orange, cobalt blue, and golden yellow.
