Damian Francis Kessler
1956 – 2024
Damian Francis Kessler, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Tomé, New Mexico on October 25th, 2024, surrounded by his family and cherished pets, after a journey with cancer faced with courage and grace. Born and raised in Alamogordo, Damian was a proud graduate of New Mexico State University and served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force. His life’s journey took him across New Mexico, where he made each place feel like home. An avid rock climber, Damian found joy and freedom in nature, and his generous spirit touched all who knew him.
Damian is survived by his loving wife, Vary; his daughters, Maureen (Will) and Katherine (Garrett); his son, William (Mikayla); and his siblings, Carolyn (Kris) and Christopher (Tomai). He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald F. Kessler, and his mother, Mary C. (Murphy) Kessler. Deepest gratitude to Dr. Standoli, Bosque Trails Hospice, and Dani and Kristin at the New Mexico Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support. Damian will continue to encourage inquisitive education through his donation to the University of New Mexico Medical School, ensuring his legacy will help others beyond his time here.
With the mountains ever calling to his heart, Damian has now taken his final journey.
