It is time to tend to the tulips 🌷--which is easier said than done! Here is my tried-and-true method below:
* Cut all flowers about one inch from the bottom of the main stem; make sure to use quality shears- household scissors are not advisable!
* Make the slice at an angle of about 45 degrees under a steady stream of cold (think a cold plunge Wim Hof () cold therapy for your flowers) running water;
* Remove all the lower foliage that would be submerged in water this will prevent bacteria from forming and also prevent any foul-smelling vase water;
* As a hack, if you are trimming roses, remove 1-2 exterior petals (referred to as the ‘guard petals’ to help them bloom fuller more quickly;
* And the controversial last two steps, add 1/4 teaspoon bleach and 1 teaspoon of sugar for every 1 liter of vase water, and voila, a beautiful long-lasting arrangement!
