When it comes to stress eating, keeping a food diary can help you see patterns or certain behaviors in how you eat when you're feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed. Follow the prompts below and record what you eat for the next 7 days to see if any patterns emerge. If you skip a meal, record that as well!

Find this worksheet on the worksheet page of The BPD Project's website or on the homepage under Featured Worksheet! Then head back to the comments to post about what patterns you've noticed, if any, or just to state how you're making a difference in your stress eating journey!

Stress eating - something we do when we're [obviously] stressed, but also when we're bored or overall emotional. I've had my fair share of unnecessary snackage, but there comes a point where a few times becomes too many times and self-help options are needed. So let's look at a few!

♥ Keep a food diary: Write down what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat, how you're feeling when you do eat, and how hungry you actually are. Over time, you'll begin to see patterns if they arise and you may start to understand your connection between food and your mood.

♥ Snack healthy: Still feel the urge to eat something? Opt-in for healthier options like carrot sticks, celery, chocolate-covered almonds, or popcorn. This will help curb certain cravings but still satisfy your want to eat. Even better - prep your snacks beforehand so they're easier to grab rather than having to put in the effort when you want a quick bite to eat!

♥ Fight boredom: If you notice you're not actually hungry, distract yourself and substitute the craving with a healthier behavior. Go for a walk outside while listening to an audiobook (head over to the website's bookshelf under resources for some options,) play with your cat or dog, make a grocery list of healthy foods you would like to try instead of junk food, play video games (I highly suggest Stardew Valley!) or call your friend/write them a postcard!

♥ Have a hunger reality check - Check to see if your hunger is emotional or physical. Ask yourself, "when was the last time I ate?" If it's an emotional craving, try one of the options above! If it's physical, you totally deserve to eat that semi-healthy pizza!

Have some insight into emotional eating you'd like to share? Comment below on what you do to curb your cravings or your overall experience with stress eating!

Have you ever put your own needs behind in order to please others? There are times when selflessness is okay, but when it's a constant thing, problematic people-pleasing may be an issue.

People problematically please others for reasons that may include: the fear of rejection, insecurities, the need to be well-liked, the fear of abandonment, or the fear of failure or disappointment, resulting in negative consequences or punishment.

You may recognize someone, or yourself, as a people-pleaser if they come across as too eager to lend a hand, tries to accommodate everyone else's needs above their own, feels valuable when complying to others, says sorry when there's no need to apologize, or makes excuses for the faults of others.

However, there are ways to stop being a people-pleaser and start focusing on your own needs!

♥️ Get to know yourself
♥️ Learn to set boundaries
♥️ Learn when to say yes or no
♥️ Examine whether something triggers your helping behavior
♥️ Examine your intentions and ask why you want to help others
♥️ Wait for the person to ask for help
♥️ Try asking others for their help

Remember, having this specific trait doesn't necessarily mean you have BPD or a mental disorder, and having BPD doesn't mean you'll have this trait! Reach out for help if you think you have a problem with people-pleasing.

Hyperfixation is basically being obsessed or completely emerged in one subject or hobby, and even people. It's usually a coping mechanism in people with ADHD, ASD, BPD, and many other mental disorders, but a disorder doesn't need to be present to display the trait of hyperfixation. Hyperfixation can be a positive thing, helping many to cope, but it can also be a source of avoidance.

With BPD, I hyperfocus on people, specifically FPs (favorite person) to the point that I'm only ever thinking about them. I'm constantly texting them or making or buying them things, wanting to hang out 24/7 and experience everything together. It's not a healthy relationship and it can result in burn out very quickly. I'll definitely be making a post specifically on this subject!

More in general, one can hyperfixate on a craft, such as polymer clay earrings. They'll purchase all of the clay, tools, cut outs, earring posts, dremel, and even a pasta flattener to the point where they're broke. And the second everything is shipped and delivered, they're completely over the entire hobby and it's on to the next. In my experience, it's a very annoying (and expensive) problem to have.

I've had so many hobbies that I consider myself the jack of all trades, but I never stick with them to the point where I'm actually an expert on the subject matter. I've hyperfocused on acrylic and watercolors, polymer clay, soap making, candle making, golf, skiing, and even Pete Davidson (which he's currently still a hyperfixation - I write fan mail to him occasionally.)

What are some of your hyperfixations? Comment below and give some new ideas!

I found this article entitled "Thank You For Not Sharing" by Elizabeth Bernstein on the Wall Street Journal and it had a very interesting perspective on why people tend to overshare (link.in bio)

According to experts, we spend a lot of brain power keeping up with conversation, calming ourselves down, and trying to impress the other person. This leaves us with little to no energy left to filter ourselves when we talk. TMI topics may slip out about ourselves and even others, then the fumbling begins as you try to recover the conversation.

Not only do I personally overshare when I talk to others, but I overthink as well, spending even more brain power that I don't have. I'm thinking if this person is listening to me, do they hate me because they just looked at their watch instead of looking at me, are they even interested in my story as their eyes dart. Body language says a lot during a conversation, and as an empath and someone who has BPD, we take these little noticeable acts and begin to overthink and overanalyze what these tiny movements (or lack thereof) can mean.

People with BPD are on overdrive - their emotions aren't just heightened, but their senses and observation skills are heightened as well.

What are some examples you've experienced with overthinking and oversharing? Feel free to comment below!

What does it mean to "manifest your life?" Essentially, manifestation is bringing something tangible into your life through attraction and belief. In other words, if you believe in it strong enough (and put in the effort to achieve it) you'll receive it.

So to begin my journey of manifestation, I wanted to share a few prompts that I've been following for the past few days to really get started! I write these down in my planner to just get it out in a physical way, but just thinking about your answer is acceptable, too! Practicing manifestations can really help you find the path you need to follow your dreams and aspirations.

Since I'm wanting to share my journey with ya'll, and hopefully inspire you to join me as well, I went ahead and picked one and wrote down my manifestation (swipe right!) Manifesting your life is a lot easier when you have someone to hold you accountable

Feel free to answer any of the prompts in the comments to get started on your manifestation journey!
