This find is a personal triumph for me! 📖💫🤩 I have searched for donkeys years for a genuine first edition of F. Marian McNeill‘s “The Scots Kitchen”, published in 1929 by Blackie & Son Limited. This is an absolutely indispensable classic of Scottish culinary folklore and cooking. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If you are into Scottish heritage or history, a copy of this book is a *must have*. And if any of y’all need one, my 1956 edition just came available…

On The Hob: Lamb Brats & Kraut! 🇩🇪👩🏻‍🍳

Local lamb brats, homemade saurkraut, leeks & onion, butter, apple cider, salt & pfeffer. NOM!!! 😋

Tips:
*Rinse the sauerkraut in cold water to remove the excess salty-sour brine. It will cook up much better without being overwhelmingly sour.

*Brown the sausages first to get a moderate fond, then add thin sliced leeks and onion to tenderize them and develop a sweet caramelization. Then add the cider (this pot only needed about 1/4 cup), salt & pepper, put the lid on and simmer gently for about a half hour.

*Great with mashed tatties, tattie dumplings, or spaetzle with butter (or parsley-butter. Nom!
