The Art: The Polish art is sure to please all who enjoy traditional folk art style. All of the pieces are hand painted, using sponge stamp and brushes creating amazing works of art. Since each piece is handcrafted, slight variations in color and pattern will exist which adds to its uniqueness. The patterns are separated into classifications of Traditional and Unikat. However within Traditional and Unikat you will find multiple pattern levels based on talent of the artist and pottery shop your piece comes from. Traditional patterns are long established, time-honored, and very classic such as the famous peacock circles. Most Traditional patterns have simple repeating circles or shapes with one to three colors. The historic cobalt blue against that fabulous white clay screams Polish Pottery. “Unique” patterns have more decorative features, further detail, expression and complexity. Many Unikat patterns have a larger combination of different stamped shapes, brush strokes and colors. In addition to traditional blue, you will encounter more green, red, yellow, purple and earth tones. Signature patterns are Unikat patterns that are exclusive to an individual accomplished, master artist. These pieces are exquisite and take a considerable amount of time to paint and are signed by the designer. They are produced in lesser quantities making Signature Unikat more collectable.
