At Ability Weavers you will find beautiful handwoven floor covering and decor items created by our weavers. Most of our products are made on site in our open weaving studio. Our weavers would be happy to demonstrate the art form during your visit. Our Lowell store is more than just a store. It is also a purpose-filled work environment including adults with autism and other disabilities. We provide an integrated work setting in which those with and without disability work side by side and are offered the same wages while contributing to the community in a meaningful way. Together we create beautiful and functional home decor and gift items. All profits are reinvested into the employees of Ability Weavers. Store officially open for business on July 5, 2016. Payday is always a good day. It's even better when it's your first payday!!! Today Josh's got his first paycheck! Tori has been on the team for a while and she's smiling ear to ear too!

Lowell resident and expert flat roofer Ryan Gould is a key person in the success of the new Studio. We owe him many thanks!

When we purchased the building in January, there were many roof leaks. Quotes for new roofs gave us sticker shock. Ryan sealed the leaks with a special silicone layer that worked great and was very affordable. If you need flat roof help, Ryan's number is 616-262-9949.

We love welcoming new weavers! Today was Megan's first day of work at AW. She has had a couple other jobs including Stir It Up Bakery and working as a barista at a coffee shop, but she had never woven a rug. I think she did great!
Help us welcome Megan and let us know what you think of her pink rug.

Our weavers get to keep their first project, but I'm pretty sure she will be making many more. Good job Megan!

Some fun pictures today of weavers Grace, Clara, Erin and volunteers Shelley, Jay, Tonia, Janie and Ron. Our products have always been designed and woven by our 18 employees. But that is only half of the story. Our 12 volunteers are hugely helpful with towel sewing and finishing and fabric prep. We're a great team Weaving a Purpose 10 years strong!

Our last (but not least) thank you for helping the new Studio goes to Hooper Printing! Tina and team did a great job designing and producing the new sign. It is perfectly round aluminum with the colors printed right on the metal (not vinyl stickers). Tina even hand delivered it! Beryl loves the Studio font they suggested. Many thanks to the Hooper team!

Day 1 of Fallasburg Arts Festival is in the books. We started out with a 2 hour rain delay, but the rain stopped as the day went on . Thanks to everyone who purchased items to support our weavers.

Please join us on Sunday, Sept 20, from 10am-4pm for more fun at Fallasburg Park. Lots of amazing art, live music all day, kids activities and of course some really cool handwoven items 🙂

WEATHER UPDATE: FALLASBURG ARTS FESTIVAL:
OPENING AT NOON TODAY (SEPT 19)!!! Due to this morning's heavy rain, we're delaying the Fallasburg Arts Festival opening until noon to keep everyone and the artists' work safe and dry. See you this afternoon at Fallasburg Park for art, music, and fun once the skies clear!

It's time for the Fallasburg Arts Festival!!!!
This event is just 4 miles north of Lowell at Fallasburg Park.

We have worked all year for this event ALL of our inventory is going to this 2 day event. You will even find items never seen in our store, including our biggest selection of towels ever!!

Be sure to stop by to cheer on our weavers as they demonstrate their skills.
