🇺🇸 TODAY, LET’S RECOGNIZE THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION CREWS OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS! 🚧
Now, before everybody starts laughing, I know what you’re thinking. Some of these road construction projects around Lubbock seem to move slower than molasses in January! 😂
You can leave town for a vacation, come back two weeks later, and that same orange barrel is still sitting in the exact same spot!
But today, I want us to look at something a little differently.
Behind those orange barrels, detour signs, torn-up intersections, and miles of construction zones are hardworking men and women who show up every day to do a job most of us wouldn’t want to do.
They’re out there in the West Texas heat, fighting the wind, breathing dust, working around heavy equipment, and dealing with impatient drivers who just want to get where they’re going.
And let’s be fair. The men and women operating the equipment, pouring concrete, laying asphalt, and directing traffic aren’t necessarily the ones deciding how long these projects take.
They’re doing the work they’re assigned, often under difficult and dangerous conditions.
We can be frustrated with how long a road project takes and still respect the people doing the actual work.
Think about how much we depend on these workers.
Every road we drive, every intersection we cross, every highway that carries our groceries, building materials, emergency vehicles, and school buses exists because somebody was willing to get their hands dirty and build it.
Our growing city needs infrastructure, and infrastructure doesn’t build itself.
As a former installer and someone who has spent more than 20 years working in the trades, I understand something about construction. What looks simple from the outside is rarely as simple as people think. There’s preparation, underground utilities, inspections, weather, scheduling, and a hundred things that can delay progress.
Now, does that mean I wouldn’t like to see some of these projects finished a little faster?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! I’D LOVE TO SEE THEM FINISHED YESTERDAY! 😂
But that frustration shouldn’t be directed at the hardworking people standing out there doing the job.
So today, from all of us at Raider Flooring, Kitchen, Bath & Paint, I want to say THANK YOU to the road construction crews working throughout Lubbock and West Texas.
We might complain about your orange barrels, your detours, and how long it takes to get across town, but we appreciate the work you’re doing to build a better community.
And to everyone driving through a construction zone, slow down, put your phone away, and give these workers some room.
Their families expect them to come home safely, just like yours do.
🇺🇸 God bless the hardworking men and women who build America, one road at a time!
And to our Lubbock road crews, we appreciate you. But if you could find a way to move those orange barrels a little sooner, we’d appreciate that too! 😂🚧
