A little piece of history has been preserved in Sister Bay at Alpaca to Apparel.
After decades of Wisconsin weather, the decorative peaks on the front of the building had become cracked, rotted, and broken. Rather than replacing them with a modern alternative, Ben and his dad, Chuck, set out to recreate them as faithfully as possible while preserving the building's original character.
The original peaks were too far gone to save, so they were completely rebuilt from new wood. Using the one decorative swirl that was still intact enough to serve as a template, each scroll was carefully traced and individually cut by hand with a jigsaw before being assembled into new peak decorations that match the originals.
Ben also spent time repainting the peaks and other exterior trim, giving the building a refreshed look while maintaining its historic charm.
The new peaks have now been installed, and while they look just like the originals, they're built to last for many years to come. Preserving the integrity and craftsmanship of this beautiful old building is important to everyone at Alpaca to Apparel, and it's the little details like these that help keep its character alive.
If you're visiting Sister Bay, be sure to look up the next time you stop by—you'll be seeing a piece of history that has been carefully brought back to life. 🦙❤️
