Hi there, I’m glad you found me. Yes, I’m that short one flanked by my babies & hubby. Lucky for them, getting tangled in yarn their whole lives didn’t stunt their growth in any way.
I have this obsession with crochet which I learned from my mother at age 5. Some neighborhood kid had a hook & yarn & I “want that.” My 5th Grade teacher yelled at me for crocheting in class. I crocheted for Naval Relief when my husband was at sea. I’m forever looking for a crochet hook. It’s a part of my life that I have no desire to shake.
I started doing crafty shows in and around Lynn MA in 1995. My Gram got me interested in her doilies and tea cups and together we toured the North Shore with our wares. This was before the internet and everything was word of mouth. It was easier to make a name for ourselves because anyone who met the doily lady & the tea cup lady could remember us. About 10 years into doing shows with Gram she decided it was too much for her & I was going solo. My boys used to play under the craft tables with their Gameboys. They hated crap shows, let me tell ya.
I refused to have a website because I needed the best name. It actually woke me up in bed! What comment was used to describe my doilies? “this is a LOST ART” people would say. Now when they say it -and they still do- I just smile and point to my sign. This is all my crafty journey and I’m trying to move my crochet business from just in-person to an online presence as well.
