Today is the hardest day of my life, I lost my mom today.
Many of you knew my mom, Pat Roberts, who founded this business of ours. If you knew my mom, you knew that she was always the brightest light in the room. She was passionate about everything! She loved helping our clients dream their wedding floral dreams, she loved teaching people how to design, she just loved people - people of all kinds; just as they were. She loved debating politics, she loved singing, she loved baking, she loved animals and above all she loved her family.
My mom wanted to be a singer, she had a beautiful voice, but she grew up in a time when women were expected not to go to college, so she never pursued her dream. She missed out on the opportunity to go to college, but she made sure that her children would never be denied that opportunity. She would tell us that her grandmother told her to always expect good things of your children and they will do great things! I think she taught us that very well and we have passed it on to the next generation; she is so very proud of all of us and of her 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pat or Grandma as we all call her in our family, touched so many lives and has left a strong legacy of creativity, passion, loyalty and kindness to those of us who have been lucky enough to stand in her light.
She has had a few tough years with her body failing her more and more each day, she survived several surgeries and truly lived on sheer willpower this past year. I went from being her partner and best friend to being her care-taker and I’m honored to have been by her side every day.
Mom, I will miss you immensely, but your voice will echo in my mind every day for the rest of my life.
Rest in peace my sweet beautiful flower.
