For anyone coming to town this weekend, check out the schedule of events during Madrid’s Labor Day celebration!

Overall you can still drive right up to the shop and park as usual Friday and Saturday. On Sunday with the huge, amazing car show, there will be several roads blocked off so you may want to consider parking elsewhere and walking in. If you purchase something heavy, we can help carry, hold for pick up, or deliver locally after the roads reopen.

We hope you check out all the fun stuff going on around town but also that you come see us! We are cooking up some weekend specials and while we aren’t directly in the path of action, we are close so walk those few extra blocks and come on by!

It’s a new week at Sugar Valley! We are open regular hours but be sure you’re checking out all of Madrid this weekend because there is a TON going on! Farmer’s Market, Labor Day celebration Friday through Monday with bands, food trucks, local groups hosting meals, inflatables for kids, a huge car show, and so much more!

We are on the countdown to Labor Day here in Madrid. If you haven’t visited during the holiday before, be sure to add us to your plans now! There’s live music, food trucks, and vendors uptown along with all the rest of us always in town doing special fun things for the holiday. Sunday 9/6 will bring a huge car show to town and Monday 9/7 has a big parade. Stay tuned here to see what we’ve got up our sleeves.

Sunday is in full effect - can you feel that back to school feeling in the air? Around here, that’s tomorrow! Where did summer go? Personally I’m a fall gal but I know the break is never long enough for those who have it.

PAC Man is up and running though for now we are mainly keeping it offline. We’ve had several folks ask about it so wanted to let you know!

Last night our local chamber of commerce, MACC, Madrid, IA Chamber, held its annual banquet bestowing business of the year on two that I frequent regularly (and you should too!). Congrats Cup of Joy Coffee Truck & Sweet Sugar Crumbs on your well-deserved recognition! You can find Joy’s coffee shop on E. 2nd so pop in if you need some caffeine to fuel your shop visit and you can find Katie’s cheesecakes (unless sold out! It happens - they are that good) at Sisters in Cheese on State St. along with a great breakfast or lunch!

We also got the privilege of decorating a table for the dinner. Here’s one view with a few more in the comments. I’m no decorator but it is definitely made easier with a shop full of fun things to choose from and fresh flowers from Wild Bird Farm!
