how to make this simple bucket bag:

Body:
-For the outer fabric, lining, and batting:
-Fold each piece in half.
-Cut each piece to 14" × 11".
-On the folded side, cut a 3" × 3" notch from each bottom corner.

Straps:
-For the outer fabric and cotton batting:
-Cut two pieces measuring 18" × 5" each.

Assembly:
1. For the body, Attach batting to wrong side of outer fabric.
2. Quilt fabric
3. Fold right sides together & sew both side seams.
4. Box corners by opening the 3” notches, matching side seam to bottom fold & sewing straight across
5. Repeat with lining, leaving an opening in one side seam. I left 4 inches.
6. For the straps, layer batting + fabric, fold/press long edges in, then fold all the way in half.
7. Sew down the length of each strap.
8. Pin straps to the outside of the bag at the side seams.
9. Place bag (right side out) inside the lining (inside out), right sides touching.
10. Sew around the entire top.
11. Turn right side out through the lining opening.
12. Sew lining opening closed.
13. Push lining inside & topstitch around the top.

This was my first time sewing a square quilt like this!! And I don’t think I can go back, it was so much easier and faster keeping the rows attached!

But in the end, it looks the same no matter how you sew it together, so if this way is confusing… sew it whatever way makes sense to you!! ❤️
