Stay cool and hydrated everyone and have a great weekend. The Starlight Duo will perform at The Malden Bridge Community Center this Sunday 6/14 @ 3 pm – hosted by The North Chatham Free Library.
The Starlight Duo is a musical partnership of Lawrence Bush and Susan Griss, playing of guitars and electric bass with vocals. They will present a 90-minute concert of songs from the Great American Songbook (jazz standards), from Detroit’s Motown record label, Chicago blues, and other popular sources, with introductory narratives for each song about the role of migration and cross-cultural influences in the lives of their composers. Music, of course, is a universal language that communicates across borders, boundaries and time.
In addition, they will perform a few original songs by Lawrence and share their own personal story of “migration” from one chapter of life to the next. They founded the duo after both retired from other careers.
This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by CREATE Council on the Arts.
