RAD Quilts

RAD Quilts Welcome to my FB page. This is my new adventure. By profession I am a teacher of vision impaired and blind. By hobby, I enjoy quilting.

I love teaching and especially enjoy teaching Braille reading and writing. I hope to have the opportunity to do even more quilting once I retire. I make all kinds and sizes of quilts from full-size bed covers, wall hangings and table runners to hot pads and coasters. Among my favorites are working with Asian inspired fabrics and fabrics showing cranes. My fascination with Asian fabric began when I

was a teenager. My family and I hosted students from Japan during numerous summers while they participated in a homestay/study program. These wonderful experiences and my visit to Japan several years later piqued my interest in Asian, especially Japanese, style fabric. Also, my sister who serves as a volunteer at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin introduced me to the beauty of cranes, especially those from Asia. Another interest of mine is the circus. The Ringling Brothers Circus also began in Baraboo, the home of the Ringling family. I haven’t made a circus themed quilt yet, but creating one is on my wish list. Circus themes could lead to all sorts of projects for “children of all ages.”

Although these are my favorites, I do enjoy experimenting with countless colors and styles of fabric and patterns. I make each of my quilts with 100% high quality cotton fabric.
