This is the place where the daughter & granddaughter of avid antiques collector Susan Wood share stories about her treasures & post details of upcoming sale events. For years, she bought -- and sold -- whatever caught her fancy: crystal goblets, vintage aprons, figurines, costume jewelry, lace tablecloths. She displayed her finds in her home & stocked her antique-mall booths & tiny antique shop. W
hen she died in 2020 at age 84, her house was overflowing with treasures. COVID-19 delayed our plans for clearing out the house with an estate sale. And when we revisited the process this year, we realized our focus had shifted. Previously, we'd thought we'd each (three children, five grandchildren & three great-grandchildren) pick out our favorite things, turn everything else over to an estate expert & walk away. But -- like many others -- quarantine forced us to reassess what's important & reevaluate how we do things. We had time to reflect & remember. And as life became (sort of normal) again, we knew we didn't simply want to clean out the house & sell the things. Instead, we wanted to honor & celebrate our mother & grandmother. We wanted to knowing more about the things she cared about before we shared them with others. So, we -- her granddaughter Carolyn Myers & her daughter, Cathy Wood -- made a plan. We'd go through the house, discovering the "whys" behind the objects: Is that dented English silver teapot really 300 years old? How did our young Victorian ancestor ever sit still long enough to create such intricate embroidery? What was that china platter used for? We'll research & share the stories, and we hope you'll share stories of your family treasures, in turn. As we explore, we'll host in-person sale events. This page is where we'll post sale details, so check back often & join us.
