It’s no surprise the 📚 stack of books aesthetic is trending. People are craving more ways to unplug and take a quiet moment to escape.
Here are a few of my favorite ideas for designing a home library or cozy reading nook that I love to incorporate into my interior designs:
• Details that add character and charm like built-in book shelves, a bookcase ladder, vintage-inspired lighting, and bookish decor. Think: globes, antique clocks, framed maps, collected objects, and family heirlooms layered throughout the shelves.
• Reading chairs with arm rests - a must when you’re deep into a page-turner. I also love incorporating a sofa or daybed for curling up with family, kids, or the dog.
• Natural light during the day and reading lamps with soft light (bright white LED bulbs = big no).
• A proper side table for coffee or tea, reading glasses, or a stack of books.
• Elements that soften sound and create separation from the busier areas of the home: curtains, pillows, rugs, upholstery, and soft textures all help dampen noise.
Last weekend was Independent Bookstore Day, and living steps away from means I’m never short on inspiration or stacks of books waiting to be read. The only thing better than a beautiful bookstore is having a cozy place at home to enjoy what you bring back with you.
If you need help designing your own cozy reading escape, I’d love to help create a space you’ll never want to leave!
