Shot these in 2003 on a sleepy day in Hermosa day when digital point and shoots started getting good. At the time I worked at as a paid intern and would shoot my part of LA to be used as their stock photography. Back when you still had to explain to people in LA where the South Bay was. I’ve got a lot of memories in this shot from getting dropped off at the beach by my Mom to waiting for friends to score 5 dollars worth of w**d for hours. To all the kids reading this, back in the day riding someone on your handlebars was a ticketed offense. Old Hermosa was a really fun place to be as a teenager. Hit me up if you’re interested in a print. On the site soon.

These were a core part of my memories on the beaches of the South Bay as a child with my cousins and brother…heavy metal trash cans with the Coppertone girl on them. Seemed like they were around for decades. Stoked we finally found a pic of one and we can share it with the next generation. Back in our day….

How hard did the dudes work that emptied these things?

Attention South Bay. needs your help. They have been a staple round here for decades so let’s give em a hand. They aren’t asking for much, so kick in a couple bucks to keep em going. Personally this sign makes us happy when we drive by and that’s worth it for us. Link is in the bio, you know what to do. Let’s Keep Hermosa Hermosa.

I’ve been working on a photo project called “213” which documents the quaint cool address letters and apartment themes of Los Angeles County. This is one of my faves on 1st St. in Hermosa. May the light on this place never go out.

Out of the hundreds upon hundred of photos taken through, above, and under the Manhattan Pier this is the first time I’ve ever seen one where the pier itself acts as a frame. Am I trippin’? Check out he’s got a different coastal perspective than what we’ve been used to seeing.

The foot bag is an old past time of beach kids on Pier Ave and the strand back in ye Olde South Bay. During my day there was a dude named Rasaan that ripped. He’d look at me weird when I called it Hacky Sack. I did a couple of summers of being a Pier Rat….ahhh simpler times in Hb: This was shot by Robi Hutas, one of the many photos he left me. If you have a space for art shows hit us up, let’s do a show of Old Hermosa using Robi’s Photos.
