One of my favorite type of project to work on is renovating a prewar apartment in the city - there are so many beautiful architectural details. Clients always fall in love with the charm and elegance of prewar homes. Our challenge is always to preserve the charm and beauty while making it feel modern enough for today’s way of life. Designers always consider these three things when designing a space for entertaining:

1. Guests should be able to move easily through the room (leaving enough room to walk by someone seated having a conversation)

2. Lighting that flatters - we love to plan for candlelight, dimmed lamps and sconces, and warm-dim bulbs. If you can’t find warm-dim bulbs - then use antique bulbs that are 2400k

3. The room should feel special even on a random Tuesday (add beautiful details like luxurious fabric or interesting wallpaper)
