Been a while since I've done any updates on progress.

I found that the neck that was supplied with the kit was completely unusable. 1st, it was mean for a lefty, the headstock point was upside down if we use it for a righty guitar which this is. Also, I didn't realize the width of the nut was about a 1/4" too narrow, so it was ditched. I found a 30" scale maple (not really maple) with a rosewood fret board (not really rosewood) on line. I'm able to make this one work.

Also got the binding done on the body as well as adding some maple binding to the neck. Also installed an ebony headstock veneer with an ivory "Lang" logo. Lastly, I updated the tuners while I was at it.

Body and neck are now completed and its time to start the finishing process. So stay tuned.

More updates. The body is almost wrapped up.

Been working away on the bass project. Spent a good bit of time just getting all the poorly fitted blocks removed from the interior. Finally onto some additions.

Starting to come together nicely.

Working on a fun and different project. Picked up a Beatle Bass Kit, based on the Hofner 500/1 made famous by Sir Paul.

This kit came with the body assembled, however I'm removing the back to work on beefing up the construction. Will be removing the neck block and other smaller blocks and making new hardwood version from Mahogany. Also will add kerffed linings where the sides glue to the back and top.

Will be a fun project. Stay tuned.

Been working away on this ol girl.

Got the back removed and confirmed the neck block was cracked. I removed it and it fell apart. Will need to make a new replacement but will use mahogany instead of poplar. Then cut a new dovetail joint to affix the neck.

Then onto repairing about 4-5 cracks on the soundboard and sides.

Picked up an old archtop online that needs some attention. Has a ton of mojo left so lets see about getting back into playing condition again. Appears to be built in the 1930's. Stay tuned for updates as I restore the old girl.

Was a fun evening at the Redwing Arts Open House reception for the Shaping Sound exhibit. Good to talk with fellow luthiers in MN.

This exhibit will be running until late October, so stop by for a look see.
