The last couple week we’ve worked on paper mache. My examples were a glue stick, pencil, and paint tube. But some of the kids put their own creative spin on it. I didn’t get many pictures. But here are a few. It was a challenging projects but the kids really enjoyed it!

This week we made multimedia pasta, still life’s.

We learned about Henri Matisse- who is one of my favorite artists. He had a hard life with a lot of illness, and late in life when painting became too physically demanded, he started making collages instead. Called them “drawing with scissors”. We talked as a class about overcoming challenges, and then made our pictures inspired, loosely, from his artwork.

This is one of my favorite paintings to teach! We looked at van gogh’s starry night, and then used acrylics to paint a galaxy. Students then had an option to trace and paint a silhouette of the arches, or for the younger students they could just glue the template on.
