Navigating major decisions in your life, such as a move can be tricky at best, when making them for yourself. Add the weight of the responsibility of navigating major decisions for a parent who has always had your back in all the journeys, you have embarked on, these changes can be all-consuming and frightening. Since my personal "cheerleader" was the one I was now attempting to make good decisions for; I can say it had become paralyzing.

My favorite method of finding any professional to do business with, is through a personal referral. I contacted a friend in the real estate business in North Texas and asked for just that, a referral. She put me in touch with Elena Marrufo, a realtor with Ebby Halliday, who served the North Texas area as well as Oklahoma. Here's where, I say, "Bless Her Heart!".

I'm no stranger to buying and selling of real estate and remodeling endeavors, but when it came to this move, I regressed to the little brown eyed girl my daddy called "Missy". Elena stepped up. Every concern I threw her way, like a panicked child, she was like, "No Problem".

I immersed myself in moving Dad to an awesome Independent Living Facility in Oklahoma City, where he now has a charming little apartment in the large facility. The facility fit his needs to a "T", three meals a day in the dining room, transportation service, light housekeeping service, social activities and friends to interact with. He made this transformation with flying colors in what my kids and I refer to as "Papol Goes to College".

Goodbye 3 bedroom home with lawn maintenance, grocery shopping, preparing his own meals and being lonely; though he never complained. I like to think the house is happy as well, with a whole "family" taking up residence!

Elena, with her easy going, "no problem" attitude, took care of,..... well, everything else.

So, just paying it forward today, telling her what I think of her and leaving a good reference!

Thank you Elena for your professionalism, and going above and beyond to hold my hand through this transition. I am, and will forever be, grateful.

So true! Do not be your own worst enemy! 💞 Love all there is about you!

Imposter syndrome is ugly.

It keeps us playing small, second-guessing our greatness and snuffing out our own light.

It’s also a liar. You know you’re powerful, smart, capable, savvy and talented. Deep down, you know you have what it takes. You just have to try. So why does self-doubt keep us frozen?

I’d suggest that it’s because it keeps us centered on self—which is the worst posture we can take when we’re trying to muster up the courage to offer something to the world.

Imposter syndrome looks in the mirror and notices every flaw, crack and failing. It asks over and over again, “Am I enough?” Wrong question.

The next time it sneaks up on you, put the mirror down. Lift your eyes up.

You know who’s not an imposter? The people you’re trying to reach. They’re as real as it gets. They have real hurts. They have real needs. Invalidating and withholding your expertise just means you’re delaying their transformation. So the real question is, “Are they enough?”

Do they matter enough for me to brave the rejection or mistakes… and share my gifts anyway?

I hope you’ll start saying Yes—to them and to you. The world is waiting for your unique magic. Don’t let fear rob us of it. Xo

This one,… turns 34 years old today at half passed noon. He was born to expert 26 year old parents. We had a son about to turn 4 and as everyone knows we pretty much learn everything we need to know about parenting by the time we are 26. (sarcasm 😊. Turns out , we knew that loving them unconditionally was the first step.

Anywho the beautiful brown eyed “chill baby”, we named Taylor Bear turn out to be an expert at being 100% his authentic self before he took his first breath. His due date was 9 days earlier, but he wasn’t notified about that, so I just commend him for making his first earthly decision.

Fast forward to December 28, 2024. He is now an expert parent of a beautiful baby girl, Harper Diane, turning 2 years old tomorrow and a very handsome 7 month old “chill baby” boy. Wonder where Walker got that trait? Taylor is on the expert path because he knows rule #1 is to love them unconditionally.

Now he shares his birthday with his precious wife, who is his birthday twin. Heather was born 1 year earlier than him to the day and in the same hospital, Plano Regional Medical Center. They go together like cake and ice cream. I am thrilled to have a front row seat watching them navigate life together; not only as parents, but teachers, and as the kind respectful adults who value each other’s authentic self.

So, everyone raise your cupcake to Taylor & Heather McGrew as they share a beautiful, relaxing, zen filled day of bliss on their birthdays today. (Sarcasm 😊, They have two babies! Enjoy your beautiful, authentic day which is even better.

For the past 4 months, I saved every egg shell and banana peel we ate (2 people) by simply chucking them in a bag in the freezer. I managed to yield 1.5 lbs of egg shells and 5 lbs of banana peels. The egg shells will be blended to a fine, dusty powder and added to the soil in our greenhouse as an insect repellent. I'll also make liquid solutions with the egg powder and banana peels for a calcium/potassium boost🥚🍌.
