Our next Adult Book Fair with The Novel Notion! is next Sunday, October 18th! πŸ“– πŸ™Œ Part of this event is a GIANT community book swap. We've been collecting gently used, adult fiction & YA books for the swap and trust me when I say these are books you'll actually want to add to your TBR pile. You can drop off books at the shop during normal business hours through October 16th!

Everyone who comes to the Book Fair can take up to three books home from the swap - for free! But if you want first pick of the books, you'll want to grab a VIP ticket. VIP ticket holders get early access to the event, giving them first pick of the books & book merch - plus, a book-themed adult beverage, swag bag, and more!

We have a new magazine in the shop! πŸ™Œ Heartbeat is more than a music magazine. This stunning, singular publication celebrates the emotion of sound through genre-defying stories that span nature and art, venturing into the past and looking to the future to explore how what we listen to makes us feel.

Stories explore mechanical birdsong, memories of boleros, hearing a tree fall in the forest, a personal history of hearing aids, learning to sing like a whale, imagining the sound of thought, the peculiar freedoms of wingdings tracks, conversations with record collectors in SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil, hip-hop style, the sacred tones of an 185-year-old Japanese bell foundry, making instruments out of glass, pond music, singing gibbons, life-changing owl calls, and writing songs people learn by heart. With features on Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Fairuz, Horsegirl, The Beths, Patrick Haggerty, RAMM:Ξ£LL:ZΣΣ, and the regulars at Oakland’s Lakeside Lounge.
