“I picked out a paint color we love - Can you just find a rug, sofa, throw pillows, window treatments, lighting, and a coffee table to match?” Errrrm let me think.. nope 🤪

Okay but for real, if you’re picking paint color *first*, you’re doing it allllll wrong. Because spoiler alert: picking a paint color to match your new rug is a lot easier to do than picking a new rug to match your paint color 🫠

So, needless to say, if you see a designer pitch a paint color and then change it once everything else is finalized, this is why ✨

I’m so excited to finally share our Treehouse Project with you all! Consider this your reminder that new furniture and decor makes all the difference in leveling up a space.

P.S. I think the most difficult part of a project might be naming them 😂 We got lucky with a name like “Treehouse” but if you have any suggestions for future ones I am allllll ears

Let’s do a mini recap of the past month amidst the moving chaos, shall we? 📦

Meetings taken from the lawn chair in my new “office”? 15.

Pizzas eaten straight out of the box? 5.

Little one’s testing out the new floors in their jammies? 2.

In all seriousness, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you all that I’m slightly overwhelmed by all that I want to do with this home. Truly, I walk into a room and my mind goes wild with all the possibilities.

But as a designer, I also know the importance of not biting off more than you can chew. So all of that to say, we’re not going HGTV-style makeover on this home 🤪

What we will be doing is making thoughtful, intentional changes over the next few years to make this home truly feel like ours, and I can’t wait to bring you all along 🥹

Turns out designing your own house means having to take all the advice you give your clients 🙃

So what does this mean? We’re starting slowly laying out the pieces we already love, paying attention to how we move through the house and how the light changes throughout the day, and getting to know the personality that was already here before deciding what comes next.

Obvi I have approximately one million ideas but I’m resisting the urge to do everything at once. I want to let the house tell us what it needs and leave room for the right pieces to find us along the way.

I always say the best homes come together over time. I’m excited to let this one do the same 🤍

Well our old house is officially empty and we’ve officially been kicked out 🥲

How about one last final lap around the home that started it all?!

A final goodbye to the house where we became a family - you will be dearly missed. Onto the next chapter! 🥹
