The way I see it, hiring an interior designer is an investment in your investment. I’ve had so many clients tell me they hired me because they built their last house and felt so rushed to make decisions that they chose things they didn’t really like. I beg you— please don’t do that! Your home is too precious of a space and your project is too expensive to live with things that you don’t love. My job is not only to choose finishes that work in one room, but work throughout the whole home so it feels curated and collected. I love making decisions for my clients because I feel confident that the finished product will tell their story. My goal is never to make a show home that looks picture perfect, but to have anyone walk through the door and know that the home was made for my clients because it has their signature on it.

I may be an interior designer now, but I’ve always been a Marshalls girl.

I have my office photo shoot coming up so I’ve been searching for the perfect chair for my desk. The first one was so cute, but too short so I used it in another spot. I came across these gorgeous sage green upholstered chairs in a set of two for $299 and couldn’t resist trying them in here. The pattern, fabric and shape are so cute and feel that I might even fight the urge to spend all my money on custom upholstery. That’s when you know you have a good find on your hands.

At Penny & Pearl Design | Rachael Gendrolis, coastal means comfortable and inviting, layered with texture and natural materials that only get better with time. Many of our clients live on (or love) the beach so we’re not afraid of a little sand and we design with the occasional wet bathing suit in mind.

The living room at our Third Cliff project is a cliffside oasis for the beach-loving family who lives there. We wanted their new home to reflect their love for surf, art and family while ensuring a comfortable seat for everyone at family movie night.

For us, coastal doesn’t mean anchors and starfish— it means that the door’s always open and nothing’s too precious.

Clean lines, timeless finishes and charming patterns in our kids’ bathroom✨

I wanted this room to feel sophistocated yet practical so I chose natural materials that would age gracefully. This custom vanity has enough drawers for all four kids and white oak can get banged up without paint chipping. Limestone tile is already imperfect so spilled toothpaste won’t show. A vintage bath mat can get wet and has already been around for 100 years so I know it’s durable. A cute shower curtain adds pattern and makes bath time easier than dealing with glass doors.

A thousand little decisions go into making a space feel perfect for your family and every one begins with how you live. We want beautiful design to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle because you deserve to feel your best at home.
